Hmmm, not really. Why would the Lakers be willing to let go of such a young potential starting PG to keep the old depleting Derek Fisher that plays absolutely no D? Yet Les is pulling out all the stops to keep Lowry here in Houston and is willing to match any offer. Sounds a lot like a scrub being compared to a starting PG.
That's a BS argument and you know it. There are lots of guys with championship rings. Scott Brooks has two rings with Houston but I don't think anyone but his agent used that argument to justify acquiring him....so your Farmar's agent, huh?
Yes, I do know it is a BS argument, but that is the one that gets tossed around whenever Ariza's crappy defense or shooting gets brought up. Farmar is not a bad NBA player, but he is like Lowry, a career backup....maybe both will get a chance to start on a new club next year. Clearly Adelman and Morey and the organization are just idiots for not recognizing this..... DD
You do realize that no one on our team besides Ariza has rings, right? Brooks doesn't have one and Sun Yue does. We obviously went after the wrong point guards.
The rings statement was sarcasm...based upon the Ariza crowd always falling back on that bit. Winning a ring as a role player is overated IMO. DD
Oh, I see - you have an agenda. I'll agree with you, Ariza played poorly this year...mostly in a different role than what we signed him on to play, but poor nonetheless. I still think he is salvageable - certainly I'll still take him on the long term over Artest. I still think Lowry can be a much better starter than Farmar but I suppose it's close enough to be a debate considering we haven't seen either in that role yet.
Somebody mentioned that the Rox could sign and trade Lowry away. Why in the world would we do that? Regardless or not of whether Lowry is a starter or backup type of guy, there's a strong chance we may have to send off Brooks, without getting another PG in return. I'd rather have Lowry start for us then do the Charlie Ward/Bob Sura thing again. Besides, we don't really need any more cheap assets in return for him. An expiring is kinda useless to us, we have enough of those. Only way I'd really do it is if we knew that Toronto wanted whatever asset we get from Indiana or whatever....and it allowed us to keep Brooks.
Well the Ariza crowd is a clear minority here, so there's little point in propping up Farmar sarcastically. Lowry is a career backup, but Farmar is hanging onto the league by a thread. It's like comparing Chuck Hayes to Shelden Williams. Let's give some props to guys that at least put forth an effort.
But there are differences between role players, you can be role players like Horry has, like Posey was, and like Ariza, big influence in the team performance, and then you can be a Role player like Farmar, with little influence on the teams performance, People like Ariza because he his probably the best 4th to 5th option in the league, I remember LBJ wanting to recruit him last season, there was a reason no??? he is like James Posey, or Horry as I mentioned before I don´t know why do people hate him, maybe because he starts ahead of Budinger??? I don´t know..... Lowry, he is crucial to our 2nd unit, I am not one of those that think he is better then AB just because I think AB is not as good, as the elite PGs in the wild wild West, but he is necessary on the team, Budinger without him isn´t the same player on the court, Budinger loves to run, and only Lowry has the same energy, AB uses it more in that 1v5, when defenders don´t pay attention in transition, and he goes all the way, Lowry, also does that, but instead of going all the way, he uses guys like C bud, to score I hope we resign him, but he will not get less then 4M, maybe 5M,, as will Scola, he will probably go for the 9M to 10M mark, but let´s wait and see (don´t forget that teams are going to overpay players in this Free Agency Could we do a S&T with Lowry??? Possibly going for Roy Hibbert (backup C) or TJ ford??? Someone questioned this but I rather do this then overpaying a backup, even tho I love Lowry PeAcE
Kyle Lowry will not be a career backup. As a matter of fact. he is a better starting PG than Aaron Brooks. Kyle: better defense, distributing, ball handling, gets to the line more Brooks: better scoring, better backup
You are giving me a headache!!! What is your next pearl of Wisdom going to be....Budinger is better than Martin? Try and show you have a little basketball IQ with your next statement because you are running dangerously thin on IQ with your last one!!!!!
I don't see any stats that actually support the claim that Brooks is better. Remember, Brooks was here before Lowry, and Adelman is a very loyal coach. It takes a lot for starters to lose their spot on an Adelman team. Also, Morey likes to build assets, so it would be wise to let Brooks' value go up by starting him if he thinks he will be a valuable future trade asset.
I doubt they are going to give up their All-Star forward just to get their mitts on Kyle Lowry. Though I think anyone else on their team could be had
Wow, at the Kyle Lowry overestimation. He's good off the bench, bringing energy and playing solid defense. He's not gonna be a great starter. He could start but he would be below average for sure. See what happened to Landry in the Kings and most players who's minutes go up drastically.
