"Demanded answers"?? The answer is simple. The teacher left her computer logged on and some of YOUR children got on it and pulled up a p*rn site.

I love these holier than thou parents. They probably have stockpiles of p*rn on their own computers. But if they can blame the teacher/school, it at least deflects attention away from their lack of parenting skills. So what if a substitute teacher goes to prison.

Not blaming the sub in any way, but it does boggle the mind that something my Mom taught me when I was -- literally -- four years old (CTRL-ALT-DEL) on an ancient IBM desktop hasn't become common knowledge. I mean, the sub's just 14 years older than me. Hardly a grandmother.

I guarantee that my 35 year old wife doesn't know how to do that. She made it through college graduating in 1995 without getting on a pc (fine art major). She never had one growing up either.

And I'm not saying it's indicitive of intelligence or street-smarts or intellectual savvy -- it's just hilarious to me that one of the first rules of computer-dom just draws a blank look to a heavy dose of the population. I mean, I'm minutes away from being in the presence of my Dad and my uncle: Dad still types in "cnn.com" into the Yahoo search bar when he wants to go to cnn.com, and my uncle was tapping away on his blackberry all afternoon.

Reading this sounds like more of a miscarriage of justice than I had previously thought. This whole case revolves around whether a technically naive user voluntarily viewed p*rn on a PC. The defense has to be allowed to present a case otherwise the trial is pretty much rigged.

Occasionally a few people still get tricked into using "CTRL-ALT-DEL" on the CF IRC channel.

they should have access to an exact copy of the hard drive if they want. if not it will be tossed. sounds like an overzealous prosecutor. I don't see this sticking at all, but she will have to pay for a defense, which ain't cheap

As a substitute she's probably not a member of the union.

That would explain it, but no way this case hold up on appeal.

That's my question for the lawyers in here. Does she have grounds for appeal based on the fact that the defense was nto allowed to present it's entire case? I can't think of a reason that they weren't allowed to present a plausible defense to prove reasonable doubt.

40 years max. 10 years per count. 4 counts. Hopefully she gets off with less.

7th grade so about 13. Hell, when I was in 13 I was already masturbating at a 10th grade level. :D

It's already stuck. She was found guilty which is what makes this so outrageous. Not only did the DA decide to prosecute the case, but they actually found 12 people who agreed with them. The sentencing part of the trial hasn't happened yet. Hopefully some one with develop a shred of common sense.

But I'd say due to the judge, for whatever reason, not allowing important evidence, she stands a good chance of appeal should they decide to lock her up 'til she's 80.

Dude repeatedly rapes a 5 year old boy in New Hampshire and get probation and counseling. Chick inadvertantly shows p*rn to 7th graders in Connecticut and faces 40 years. Stop the world, I wan't to get off.

Wow. This actually has happened in one of my classes. The computer was loaded with spyware/adware and unless your college professor is a geek, he wouldn't know what hit him.

He was just lecturing and all of a sudden the projector screen fillls with pornographic ads and everyone started cracking up. He closes them, then another popup window tells him if he wants to remove the spyware (an obvious hoax to the average student). What does he do? he presses it LOL. Pretty funny stuff.

sorry, I meant that as an appeal it getting tossed.

I do computer forensics and that trial had to be completely blown by everyone. From what little I read there is no way that would get a conviction if she had a half ass lawyer and a semi reasonable trial. It never should have been pressed.

There is either more to this or it will get overturned.

10 yr per count is more consistent for child p*rn in Texas, not what she is accused of (I know its a different state, just pointing out the harshness)
