You mean the same one that has the Astros with the best record in baseball? #anotherridiculouscommentbroughttoyoubyamistadconsulting
The same line up that hasn't really been tested except by NY and Cleveland. Having the best record in baseball doesn't matter if you can't beat playoff contenders.
So just to be clear, the team with the #2 offense in the league desperately needs more hitters. And more specifically, it needs more hitters like Aoki (0.637 OPS) and Centeno (a 27-yr old journeyman with a career 0.680 OPS in the minor leagues with a grand total of 4 HRs in over 450 games), but NOT hitters like Reddick (0.780 OPS) or McCann (0.820 OPS). Is that a good summary of your post?
Ignoring the fact that the Astros did, in fact, beat New York, what team do you consider to have a good lineup?
No. I think you're a time waster who spins my comments and expects me to waste my time replying. I'm wired for winning WS rings. You're satisfied with having the best record in baseball.
So in other words, you realized you f-ed up and are simply advocating that the team save money and sign crappier players and that will lead to a World Series. You don't appear to watch the Astros either.
No. How's blowing money on Yuli, Beltran and Reddick going to help us win WS? There's a difference between spending and smart investing.
This might be your best post yet. In the period you mentioned, he's been a 2 WAR/yr -- given typical $8M/WAR, that actually comes to $16 million dead on. I'm more intrigued of the idea that the only thing preventing Beltran DHing at age 45 is conditioning.
They will likely get more hits and do more positive things than Aoki and Centeno. More hits = more chance to win a WS. Ergo, these guys help us win a World Series. It's fairly simple.
What's WAR? Beltran needs to spend a lot of time with his strength and conditioning coach. Arm and upper body strength will help with his bat speed and timing. I said great shape, not just conditioning.
You should take the time to learn more baseball and then come back when you can discuss things more intelligently. WAR is a pretty common stat to compare players both now and in the past.
1. Yuli has proven nothing as an average .250 MLB hitter. 2. Beltran is batting .233 now. 3. Reddick helps, but I'm pleased with Springer, marisnick, gonzo, aoki and farm system (kemp/teo/others) instead of a $13M Reddick. So, I don't see how 1-3 can get more hits. We're better off without them and their $43M combined price tag. And don't come back with another B.S. rebuttal!
WAR is a theory that discriminates against rookies or minor leaguers. The ARB panel is pretty old school and focuses more on Ws and RBIs. Perhaps you should put the ARB panel on notice to learn more about baseball, and give WAR a chance!
