What the hell is wrong with you people? Watching the Pats run the score up is entertaining as hell. I mean, who really wants to see a team this good pull its starters and start running the clock out? Not me. 3rd quarter is "commence the beatdown" time.

I, for one, prefer seeing just how badly a team can get its ass kicked. And if they don't like it, tough. They should play the whole game instead of giving up.

Damn, when did sports fans become such p*****s?

Also, going after Brady could backfire bigtime. Lets say some DE or LB hits Brady with a cheap shot but he's not seriously hurt. Theres a chance that they could retaliate and take out their opponents starting and/or back-up qb.

He is going to show people that they can run the table and score millions of points without looking at defensive signals. :D

Exactly. And considering the Patriots defense is damn good, I think they are much more capable of retaliating successfully than most teams.

Except no one believes that they've stopped cheating.

I'm thinking it could get as ugly as the Auburn Hills mini-riot.

So what everyone believes should have a bearing on how someone or something is judged? Can't think for yourself?

Edit: Also, I think most everyone believes that the Patriots are far from the only team that is/was cheating...they are just the ones that got caught.

What other things do we try to teach children about sportsmanship is OK to throw out the window on the professional level?

There should be no rule against taunting, either. If the other team didn't want to be taunted, they should've stopped the other team from scoring.

That's not a comparison. The taunting is a total byproduct of the game. It is not a goal or result of a goal. The whole goal of football is to score and then to stop the other team from scoring. By not wanting someone to run the score up, THOSE are the concepts that are being thrown out the window.

I thought the goal of football was to win.

So, why would it matter if it was done in youth football, junior high, high school or college?

Those guys being taunted are being paid. They should be able to take the taunting and if they didn't want to be taunted, they simply have to stop the other team from scoring.

My mistake. I read your comment as you giving evidence as to why the Patriots blowing opponents out was not as big an accomplishment rather than you explaining why people in general will not be impressed by the blowouts. I'd like to blame it on the Utah Jazz, if I could.

Well, yes, the overall goal is to win. But from the offensive perspective, the goal is to score. From the defensive perspective, the goal is to stop the other team from scoring. But you're being nitpicky. My point was, taunting is most definitely NOT one of the goals of football, no matter how you interpret it.

I never thought I'd see the day when there was an actual comparison between scoring points and taunting. Wow.

Please. It's widely considered unsportsmanlike to go for it on 4th down when you're up 40 something points in the 4th quarter.

I never thought I'd see the day when people thought this wasn't classless or unsportsmanlike. Wow.

This coming from a guy who applauded fans for throwing things at referees.

The Pats have the right to run the score up. Go right ahead. But when someone cheapshots Brady (and this is a dirty sport where all kinds of things go on in piles, etc) then don't be suprised. Don't they play the Ravens this season?

I was discussing the subject, and you're throwing in random, unrelated personal attacks from six years ago. Classy.

P.S. What was it you told mduke after UT's loss to OU in 2003? Yeah, you're perfect, you've never ever made any kind of emotional response post on this BBS.
