Don't take this the wrong way but you've been "Gundyized". 'Discipline and execution' may be the name of the game in high school, but in the NBA, TALENT is the name of the game. It's a players league. The only 'system' you should have is one that lets your players win games.

That discipline, execution, and system sure looked good last year when they were regularly blowing teams out. You know I love you Freak, but why do you only come out when the team is struggling?

This is one of the most insane comments I have ever read on this board.

There have been countless teams (and players) that have had loads of talent, but failed to win at the highest level because of poor execution, a lack of discipline, or just plain bad basketball IQ.

Look at the Spurs last year. The Pistons before them. Patient, disciplined teams with a set system, a clear identity, and yes, plenty of talent.

You can't win in the NBA without talent, that's true. But you also can't win without a clear identity and a team that knows how to execute their system.
