Long story short, I have an outstanding warrant for an unpaid speeding ticket in Travis County, Austin. Speeding in a school zone. I never really noticed the flashing school zone lights. But whatever. How likely am I to be arrested in Houston for a warrant out of Austin ? I am talking about cops actually coming to my home and arresting me. I was thinking that the Houston cops won't bother since the money goes to Travis County no ?

I intend to eventually take care of the fine, but don't really have the money right now. Anyone had similar experience. Been arrested at home for an unpaid citation ?

    Thanks in advance

I seriously doubt they would show up at your home for that. I don't think that warrant will show up when HPD runs your license, but I could be wrong. I don't think you can renew your license with a warrant anywhere in the state, though.

Throw some money at them and make it go away.

It will only show up if a state trooper pulls you over.

Thanks. I can imagine there are a lot of unpaid citations in Houston and the cops are knocking on doors to collect them.

you know, you didn't have to pay all at once. The judge would have provided a payment plan. Plus, you could have reduced it with defensive driving.

But, now you have an extra fine for the warrant. That's like $90. It is best just to call Austin and ask them how you pay the warrant and get the traffic ticket rescheduled. And then go from there.

Deal with the warrant, now. You don't want to wait on that.

Thanks. I was wondering how it went from $170 to $270. Smh.

I'm pretty sure you can pay the warrant off and reschedule the ticket. Just say, I'd like to plead guilty on the failure to show and pay at the window/through mail, and I'd like my traffic ticket arraignment rescheduled. They are separate cases, so you can pay separately on them.

At the traffic ticket arraignment, go to Austin if you can. Plead no-contest and ask for defensive driving and that you need a payment plan.
