    If I beat a gay man with a tire iron while wearing an "I hate homos" shirt, I stand a good chance of being prosecuted for a hate crime. If I beat a redhead with the same tire iron while wearing a "Redheads are what is wrong with America" shirt, no hate crime. Why? Is sexual orientationa bad reason to hate someone but hair color is okay?
