What? You can't handle the truth. I am a fan....and I call it as I see it. If you would prefer to praise bad play, that is your right. However, I am a pragmatic person and have played over 20 years of organized basketball, and watching bad play annoys me....regardless of whether it is my team or not. As an example...after watching a Kings game, and then comparing it to the Rockets....it makes you realize how far the Rockets need to go. And don't listen to the excuses....The Kings are playing without Bibby, Webber, and Christie and still winning. Team ball is a wonderful thing........ DaDakota
I think you would have to put Taylor in. Griffin needs some time against second string players people with less experience. Even though that didnt help tonight. He will do better against those players though and will get his confindence back.
Why can't people understand that? I swear, some people think that reading the BS column in a box score tells you how good a defender someone is. It's just ridiculous.
Did I say Cato was an offensive weapon?? No, he'll never be an offensive stud, but he does contribute. I simply pointed out a couple stats that show he usually took good, high percentage shots and that his offense wasn't as bad as you were making it out to be.
My comment was to imply that Cato is not a legit offensive weopon and you new that. Don't try and back out of your comment now.
Sorry dadakota i wasnt trying to dog on you. You just have to look at the situation. These guys are really young and have had hardly no time to play together. Like someone said above Magic Johnson and I Thomas were 20 and doing great. Those are exceptions. And are also some of the greatest basketball players of all time. All im saying is give them a couple months of playing time together. If you have played b ball that long you should know that matters a lot. Look at this years World Champs team, I think that is one of the main reasons that they lost a lot is beacause the other teams have been playing with each other for years. Sorry again. I just hate to see so much negativity for the Rockets when they are so young, havent played together much, and have injuries with some of their players that actually have experience.
I'm not so sure we win this game without Eddie's defensive prescence. He took away 4 sure makes from the other team, one of them a vicious block on a hilario dunk attempt. Our offense was so terrible tonight that taking 8 points away from the other team is really huge. Then again, one of the reasons our offense was so bad was because Eddie cant consistently hit a jumper. At least he hasnt lost confidence in his shot, because he never seems hesitant to shoot it.
Thats a good point hopefully maybe he can come back tommoro or something and hit like 10 in row or something.
No one is saying that Eddie should be a polished all star caliber player now or that he should even be considered one of the top Power forwards in the game yet but... He should be better than 6 rebounds a game and 17% shooting. Don't you think?
I agree with Crash that he should be better. He is more comfortable when he shoots facing up but he needs to work on his footwork and shooting skills in the low post. His rebounding needs some work as well but he is a better rebounder than Taylor.
but dont you guys think this will be a tough team to beat once the injured guys come back. We will have experience starting. And then Griffin and Boki will be able to come off the bench. I think this team has really been strugling but when you think about what I just said, I think they will be in great shape.
Unfortunately, I have to agree that Eddie is not coming along. He needs to sit behind Mo Taylor, implement some parts of Mo's game into his, and break onto the scene in a year. Till then, his 3 blocks and 6 rebounds off the bench will be very very welcome. I honeslty don't think he has a long way to go before he starts. A few things: Improve shot selection, add more muscle, work on the jumper. The jumper he can do on his own, and he's been doing it. Shot selection is up to him. Adding muscle and post moves is the staff's job, and I'm confident they can do it. It's a good thing we have Mo Taylor. He's probably one of the best players in the league for the system were trying to run.
How will he come around? His offensive game is aweful. He can't dribble or post up. All he can do is shoot. He will be a good role player at best throughout his career.
Is this all a joke, I am serious. . . . the guy has 2 bad games, and gasp, they are in a row so it must be how he will play all season. Does he have a perfect game? no. I cant belive all you arm chair coaches, this has to be one of the funniest threads I have read, seriously. I mean I realize that a 20 year old is suposed to come into a game and dominate every aspect YOu guys need to be realistic, Its like you all thought the rockets would win all their games, and your "reality" is crashing around you so you pull a 180 and bash everything you see. Dont mind me though, its really fun to watch people get worked up over such trivial things. But so many of you are off base that its just funny to read. Sorry DD do I have my Rose colored glasses on, they are a lot better than your sh*t colored glasses
I don't expect him to dominate. The guy can not dribble. How many times has he got caught at the 3 point line, guarded tight, and just given it up, because he can't make a move to the hoops. His post up game is terrible also.
I find it funny that all the people who say "oh hes young, he still has time to develop" were the ones who said that this was Eddie's breakout year.
Lets give him more than 2 games this year to judge his improvements over the last year. He played great in the preseason, and now he's not hitting his shots. His shots will start to fall in eventually. I hope its before MoTaylor comes back.
