I am smoking... sausage in my oven, but I dont think that impairs my ability to think and post. Here, Bibby/Jackson did outplayed Nash/Van Exel. I think the only game Nash played well was the second game in Sac, which the Mavs won. In other games, he created way too many turnovers. The Mavs/Kings serie was a break-out serie for Bibby. He was the MVP of those 5 games. Before that serie, Bibby was known as an average pg in the league. After it, he was regarded as one of the best. For Jackson, remember he almost single-handedly killed the Mavs in the two games in Dallas? Again, Nash/Van Exel have all-star caliber, but Bibby/Jackson outplayed them in that serie. :(

BTW, here is the honorable memtions list for pgs from both state:
Texas: Tony Parker (has bright future, but not consistent and don't shoot very well)
Cal: Gilbert Arenas (has very high bball iq, but lack experience plays for a bad team)

Look, you can argue all you want how Nash/Van Exel got out played, that doesn't mean Bibby/Jackson is better. To start, Nash and Van Exel are both PG's and playing on the same team, which generally means less mins for NVE (since Nash is the man down there). You MIGHT make a case for how Bibby MIGHT be better than Nash but there is no way you can say Nash/Van Exel is not as good as Bibby/Jackson.

for that matter, I think cleveland is on one of those lakes, too.

it was a bit of an inexact science.

you could have moved the bulls or the cavs to the Great Lakes squad.

I think the Heartland Breadbasket was bare enough of talent that it made sense to let that be one of the 4-team regions.

all that having been said, it was a joke for Tobacco Road to win.

Interesting thread. One thing many analyses overlook here is that Bobby Jackson is actually a 2 that plays backup at the 1. With Bibby's injury, he's been starting at the 1. Reality is, though - he's a shooting guard.

Here is the match-up between the starters, it's very interesting.

Francis = Bibby (Francis is more athletic and better scorer. But Bibby's killer instinct in clutch times makes him just as good.)

Finley < Kobe (Any questions here?)

Nowistki > Jamison (Any questions here? Oh, even you sub Peja or Odom in, same result)

Duncan > Webber (Duncan is the MVP, enough said)

Yao < Shaq (can't argue against Shaq yet, not yet.)

Then, they will be equally good. What do you think?

On paper, player to player comparisons--too subjective. On the floor, a seven game series between Tex-All Stars and Cal-All Stars would be very interesting. I would project Texas as a winner because of SPEED and SIZE. Can you imagine a front line of Dirk, Yao, and Tim D. Oh my word! Frances and Nash! Holy Smoke! Better than the All Star Game. The Games would likely be close, though.

Since most of the rivalries are within a conference, playing the West against the East in the All-Star game is quite meaningless. Itsn't it more interesting to see something like California vs. Texas or New England vs. Deep South?

I like this thread....it's the type of stuff I do on NBA Live when I'm bored (the best is to make a team of scrubs and take them to the playoffs...Mark Madsen MVP!!)

What about former Texas high-schoolers vs. former Cali high-schoolers in the NBA right now?

    My list so far:

    Cali-
Kidd, Payton, Baron Davis, Andre Miller, Pierce

    Texas-
    Lewis, Kurt Thomas

As you can see, I have no idea who came from Texas (been in Cali for the past 15 years). But since I was born in Texas, I can't stand seeing the Lone-Star state get destroyed like this. Who else came from Texas?

Austin Diablos? Not fun enough. If Austin even gonna have a NBA team, it's gonna be named as:

    AUSTIN POWERS

AS far as the Power Foward position goes.

Some of you guys are not paying attention to what Elton Brand is doing.

On a team of multiple scoring talents he is avearging almost 20 points, 12 boards and 3.3 blocks (leads the NBA). While shooting 50 percent for the season. Oh and gets more steals than Webber and Duncan combined (just about). He is flat out getting it done.

Right now, its hard to say that even Duncan is playing the position of Power foward better than Elton Brand.
