Adelman has a way of killing Young Talent... He basically drove Gerald Wallace out of town in Sacramento...
i hope he listens well to battier 'cause under battier bud is still horrible. did bud learn anything from battier?
Adelman was also the coach who gave Martin a career in Sacramento. I think it's all about playing style, not age.
Rick is not using all his tools available if he's just gonna sit Twill on the bench. Budinger's defense is looking worst and worst every game. His shot isn't getting better. Tonight's game he air-balled an wide open three. I wonder how much longer Adelman is going to let Twill sit...
If T-Will is the 2-way player that people describe, he will steal C-Bud's minutes. The latter is bringing very little to the team, though I see he is trying hard to do the other things like rebounding when his shot is not falling. I think it is just a question on how long it takes for T-Will to assimilate Aldeman's scheme. It took Lee quite a bit of time, now he is flourishing. C-Bud's fall from grace is just amazing.
Wow, Courtney really said he could play pf? That makes everything so much better. Perhaps we don't have to dump Bud or Lee. T-Will could steal minutes as Scola's backup. He looks strong enough. He definitely can rebound. The offense is gelling. We just need a little more defense and athleticism out there at times. The truth in Adelman's offense it doesn't matter what position he plays. Could you envision a team of Lowry, Lee, T-Will battier and Hill. Who could score on us?
You can't blame him for keeping Wallace on the bench. Wallace was raw and Rick had a solid rotation that got him wins and potentially a championship if not for the refs.
Williams' weakness is his inability to shoot, but honestly, this is the best shooting Rockets team I have seen since the '94 team which was from 1-4 (Cassell/Smith, Drexler, Elie, Horry) built with shooters around Hakeem. As a team, these Rockets are shooting 39.4% from three, good for third in the league. I think the Rockets can afford to trade out some shooting for defense and athleticism, in this case. The sad thing to me is that the Rockets as a team are ALLOWING 39.2% from three also. Lowry tries, but guys like Brooks, Martin, and Budinger are pretty pitiful when it comes to closing out on guys hiding behind screens. Williams could probably block his man even with the screener in front of him. Jordan Hill was the #8 pick in that draft, and now look where we're at with him. He's a big man, remember. Those things develop slow. Terrence Williams was the #11 pick in that draft, and we just acquired him. I expect a shorter learning curve, and I hope that he plays a key role on this team by the time the all-star break rolls around. Morey lamented the difficulty of acquiring high draft picks, but we may have just found our avenue towards doing so--acquiring such players after their original teams have already labeled them busts, when in fact it was the organization and not the player who was a poor fit. For my part I'll elect to put more faith in an 11th pick in a draft than a 44th pick. Not that any of that stuff matters now. The 44 pick just looks like a shell of his former self.
