I don't want to rag on the guy, but one thing must be said. Why would you say trading rafer alston is giving up the season? he's a middle of the road pg
I don't understand, unless you guys are saying Lowry is better than Alston THIS SEASON, my original statement is correct. Rafer put up 21-10 last night if you need the stat help.
I was pissed at the time of the trade, but Brooks and Lowry have done well enough to shut my mouth good. It's nice to have a couple of guys with upside for a change.
The Rockets are better with Lowry and Brooks than they were with Alston and Brooks. It was a good trade for all teams involved. DD
Your original statement said "They just gave up on our season," which was obviously wrong. Do you still honestly believe the Rockets management gave up?
Looking back on the thread, I just noticed you quoted me and disagreed with me looking solely at turnover ratio. Then, proceeded to act as if I was ignorant of stats somehow. I was speaking of Brooks for the most part, btw. Well, here are some stats for you Casey: Alston's stats with Houston in 48 Games: 11.5 pts / 5.4 asts / 3.0 rebs / .37 fg% / .34 3pt% / 1.83 TO / 33 MPG Brooks' stats with Houston this season: 11.2 pts / 3.0 asts / 2.0 rebs / .40 fg% / .36 3pt% / 1.56 TO / 25 MPG Alston's stats in the playoffs this year: 15.2 pts / 4.8 asts / 2.5 rebs / .43 fg% / .39 3pt% / 1.17 TO / 33 MPG Brooks' stats in the playoffs this year: 15.3 pts / 4.3 asts / 2.3 rebs / .44 fg% / .39 3pt% / 1.17 TO / 31.3 MPG -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but those stats are nearly identical with Brooks being a better shooter in the regular season. Playoff stats are nearly identical. With Brooks and Alston's TO ratio being identical, since you placed so much emphasis on that when calling me out. My point is next time, practice some restraint instead of criticizing other people and making knee-jerk threads that turn out to be untrue in the end. I'm speaking solely of your quote on me. Lowry is a completely different story and, frankly, one that I think you're wrong about also. We are all Rockets' fans here, just stop attacking other people.
Play-offs: Alston: 33MPG, 43% FG, 39% 3FG, 2.5RPG, 4.8APG, 15.2PPG Brooks: 31MPG, 44% FG, 44% 3FG, 2.8RPG, 4.3APG, 15.3PPG Um, pretty comparable numbers. Not exactly overwhelming evidence to support your theory.
But the main thrust of your post was the Rockets were doomed and that the team gave up on the season. I picked the Blazers in seven and I own up that I was wrong. What about you?
When you trade away your starting point guard, and he was upset about it, it seems natural to look at what you are losing at that spot with whoever replaced the guy that left. And anyone who thinks our PG play is more of a detriment with Brooks/Lowry vs Alston/Brooks doesnt know basketball. Oh, and Lowry>Alston as well. As bad a 3 point shooter as Lowry is, that never really hurt the team. Heck, he even made a few of them this series.
Didn't understand it then, still don't understand why people said it now. This was abundantly clear to me, but more than half of this thread before someone dug it up is agreeing with him. It is just plain bizarre. Ah well, I'm sure they are all happy they are wrong.
