"The best King James can ever be is an average NBA player".

This one is absolutely a classic moment material. Too bad he didn't say it on the board here.

The media in general doesn't have the knowledge or the talent evaluation capability required to be accurate the same way a NBA GM or coach would be. Otherwise they would be employed by the NBA. They are amateurs who pretend they know the game. What does Mark Stein know about basketball? He's a fiction writer.

Even in the few cases where the writers have the actual knowledge, they inject rumors and biases into their articles. They build up players and personalities and then they like to destroy them.

That's why when you judge a player, judge them by what their peers say. The media likes to embellish a lot.

Case in Point: T-Mac (supposedly a malcontent) has only been given praise by his coaches, coplayers, GM's his entire career, however the media extracts one bad incident to try to create a negative perception about a certain player.

I think Alston and Swift will prove to be be the same way. Ever considered that the coach in Toronto could have been the hot head instead of Skip?

my point exactly.....remember this was not skips first nba job...hes been in the nba for about 5 seasons.......if this happened at all his stops, I would be concerned...but before sam mitchell you never heard anything bad about skip

believe me Sam Mitchell is the idiot not rafer.....this point will be made when skip goes on for the next 4 or 5 years playin point ot perfection and no more incidents...and sam mitchell will never head coach an nba team ever again....

sorta like the idiot GM in Orlando who pissed of this star player last year and then exchanged verbal jabs at him thru the media......then delivered him to this team in texas, to pair him up with this mammoth chinese center :) ;) ........now he is banished from the nba and a SCOUT in the NHL....not even a GM :p

Exactly what I was thinking, read the whole article, the only team he doesn't rip on is the spurs, we can take it with a grain of salt

I agree with you. But, he didn't say anything we don't question ourselves. While I definetely agree we have improved, I don't see this as a bash article. I see a lot of truths to what he is saying and I don't have a problem that he rates us based on those questions. We are rating ourselves on potential and the fact we are all bonafide Rocket's homers myself being the biggest.

van gundy arrogant?! van gundy beats on himself all the time when things go wrong. just look at those bags under his eyes. also van gundy is definetly not cocky. he discourages his players from talking about championships and rings

i think this guy just wanted to write something different for the sake of being different

    ill have whatever hes smoking

we won 51 games last season. that's after starting off very slowly.

and....we are much deeper going into this season than we were going into last season.

i think that's reason enough to say the Rockets will be improved.

as for why it's a bash article...it seems to be based on an assumption that's faulty...namely, that rockets fans were disappointed with LAST season ("another disappointing season"). ummm..most of us weren't. and it seems to take a personal dig at van gundy, which he can't begin to substantiate.

If this isn't or you don't see this as a BASH article.......then I would hate to see your versionof a bash article..........

but mav hater I will say this and then I will leave it alone...if you agree with Rosen fine...thats all good.....but please don't say we ALL are second guessin or have questions because I for one don't have any questions for CD or anybody in the organization at this point....I personally feel he did his best to bandage what we need while not compromising the team....which I will be honest and say I did'nt think he was compotent enough to do...CD definately has me eatin crow because I was Definately a CD hater....but anyway...heres to the season......we will all see sooon enough

This guy is a complete and total ignoramous. The rockets are going to be one of the top teams this year plain and simple. I see between 55 and 58 wins for the rockets this year. Tmac and Yao will have great years and Barry,Anderson,Alston,Mutombo,Wesley,Howard,Bowen and Swift will complimete them just fine. WE definetly get past the first round this season and I see us getting to the west finals vs the spurs if all goes how it should. Go Rockets!!!
