Yeah you probably right. I just dont see any signs of "old" in his play early on. It doesnt really matter anyways since he wont see consistantly high minutes backing up Yao and barring injury that all he is here for.
Mo and Howard is too short and lack strength to play against the Western PFs. I wish Rox had Keon Clark though cuz i know he can play because he's long and thin and can block shots. I seen his game and when he used to be a King, i remember he can give Duncan problem.
There is an 'O' and a 'D' in Veshon Leonard. That probably makes him good at both. Anybody have any real reason that Dik can't start next to Yao? I'm talking about starting and getting into the flow of the game. Dik can really change the pace of a team that is trying to get close shots without playing starter minutes. Establishing a precedence is different that playing the whole game one way. I'm not saying that dik starting is the right thing to do, but it's an idea that deserves merit. It might be worth trying a few games before we throw the idea out. I think that early parts of the season are about experimenting with team chemistry. I think it would be better to try that to never know. As far as dik being to slow for PFs. He has been slow for a while and still played good defense during the slower years. In other words, he is slow, but he knows it and adjusts for it. That is the way of the great NBA players. Jordan knew he couldn't fly to the basket any more so he learned how to play from the outside and hit a few jumpers. Dik was great and still can be. We could use the weapons we have or put them to sleep because of doubt. Dik is still dik, but we have to go to his strengths. The whole idea of the believe signs in the astros playoff games was not to tell players they CAN'T do something they haven't done before. Our coach should believe that our players are more capable than their history has shown. That is how you win...you get more from the players than the rest of the league believes they have. Dik at PF is idea worth contemplating and I'm sure JVG has got it in his sites. If JVG isn't thinking about this, then he isn't the guy I thought he was. -Fan of Outside the Box Thinking
Exactly! Yao would be fouling out by the 3rd quuarter if he wasn't getting pulled from the game whenever he's in foul trouble. I really thought he'd figure out how to avoid early foul trouble by his 3rd year.
Actually, I think it's not a *3rd year* thing. It's more of a *early in the season* thing. Thus, "early fouls" will always be a problem for Yao at the start of the season. He seems to get better as the season goes on.
I really hope your right. However it's to early for me to see him getting better as the season has gone on. But it is early and i don't think Mutombo is our answer as at PF.
Taylor is not that bad of a starter... Mutombo is great off the bench, let's keep him there. He's not starting material anyways.
Mutombo is fine where he is. He provides a clog in the lane with the second unit. Dude can still block shots, and it's on the ball, not weak side help blocks. The only problem I see is him playing against a 5 like Brad Miller that can shoot it, he'd be better suited on the bench.
