Again, I'm going to trust that JVG can make one of the most basic coaching decisions -- who should be playing over whom. If Swift, Hayes, Bowen, Lampe or anyone else would actually put us in a better position to win than Howard, I'm going to assume JVG would have known it before we did, and acted accordingly. And, if we were to get specific, I think his jumper is probably better than that of the guys you listed. Of all of them, he's the one with the fewest glaring shortcomings in their games. He's not good, but neither are any of the alternatives. To say those guys -- who had an opportunity to steal his minutes and could not -- would be better option than Howard is unreasonable, if you have even the slightest bit of trust that JVG might know even a little bit about coaching.
This is not about trusting JVG or somehow bashing him. I am a big fan of his defensive schemes. I think although boring- that is what wins championships. But I have to tell you- his preferring J Howard and Ryan Bowen, is not borne out by facts, intangibles or whatever else a reasonable person can come up with. I guess you will also suggest that Charlie Ward as a back up is a great decision- you can respect a guy but still point out boneheaded moves. Nothing wrong with that. The facts- sir- just do not support his choices.
