The regular season is over. Postseason is beginning, we have HC but games have to be played all over again.

All I need them to do better is hit the open three better. I can’t complain about anything worse. But they get way too many open looks to not be shooting 40%.

What’s the shooting percentages for our shooters on open threes

you realize 40% is considered an elite shooter. theres an extremely short list of guys that can shoot that well in high volume. if guys like LMM were able to shoot that, they wouldn't be forced to sign at minimum money. your expectations should probably be more realistic.

I guess it's also on Eric Gordon for not showing up and Gerald Green for not coming out of retirement.

So what you're saying is, if everybody who is good is bad, then all we have is bad.

As a team this season the Houston Rockets are shooting 40.3% on wide open 3s.

We need to put Anderson on Tucker’s shoudlers

If you are looking for a ton of scoring at these positions then you will be disappointed. But the value that Tucker/Ariza/Moute bring is big. They just need to space the floor offensively and hit a handful of shots. They are huge on defense and is a big part of propelling this team to a top 10 defensive rating which is critical. Just as critical as scoring.

I do think the need for a frontcourt player who can get his own shot/points will surface in the playoffs. Will it be such a hole that it ends up being our downfall? I can't say.

But having a 3/4 type like a Tobias Harris would do wonders for us. He would obviously be the 3rd option, but he can take advantage of mismatches with slower 4s and smaller 3s...and while Harden/CP3 are capable of creating open shots for the rest of our guys in the RS -- whether they're catch-and-shoot 3s or lobs to Capela etc, having a guy who can finish/score consistently 2-3 dribbles after the pass from Harden/CP3 would do wonders for us. Obviously that need hasn't shown itself in the regular season, but I think having that wrinkle will help quite a bit in the playoffs.

Imagine playing OKC in the playoffs (who I'm not worried about at all, but still...)

    - Harden is hounded by Paul George, tries to run P&R with Capela but PG stays with him around the screen and Steven Adams' gigantic self is blocking the passing lane.
    - Ariza and Paul have bigger/longer guys like Roberson (if healthy)/Grant and Westbrook on them, making it hard to kick out. Harden gets into the awkward 10-foot area and is trapped by Adams and George. There's no room to get it to Capela, and the only guy available is Tucker around the elbow-extended with 4 seconds on the shot-clock.
    - If that's Tobias Harris, he can take one dribble and score on Melo in the paint, no problem. But Tucker, Mbah a Moute, Ariza and Anderson cannot.

That's a completely random example, but those types of plays happen all the time in the playoffs, and we have 2 elite creators (both of whom are guards) and a bunch of finishers (of lobs or C&S 3s).

They have performed very well. Even Ryno is no slouch when healthy. Tucker and Ariza have done great. Moute and Green have been pleasant surprises. JJ needs a spot in an assisted living village. He looks slower than "grandpa." Think he is done.

I wish they were more versatile and better playmakers, but except for Anderson they play defense and space the floor. We're one of the best offenses in league history, so their defense is needed much more than another offensive juggernaut. Wish we had a prime Millsap at PF, but what are you going to do?

I learned a long time ago that it's the coach's responsibility to care about little stuff like that when your team is winning. There are a lot of **** moments if you're a die-hard fan. So, enjoy the moments when your team is up. Relatively speaking, before you know it we are back to debating tanking vs making the playoffs

I think we're good at small forward... or even ok at both positions if we go small ball...

...but a power forward option against a big front line...? welp, jus better hope the 3 ball is fallin... lol
