Thanks for the translation. Now my comment:

Crikey! This sounds more whiny and gossipy than 13 year old girls at lunch. I think Billy is cheating on Suzie because he wasn't looking at her when they were studying in the library. Way too much conjecture there. Sure T-Mac might've taken more shots than Yao in the Clippers game and he might've said something to Yao on court during the previous game but this seems like the reporter is trying to generate a controversy out of something that isn't there.

Not even remotely possible or just extremely exaggerated. T-Mac at most would tell him to stop making it easy on the D by taking fadeaway J's and start beasting the paint.

This sounds like something Skip Bayless or Charles Barkley would say. The reporter better stop listening to these clowns and start watching games for himself. For a guy who was making ill-advised sacrifices to defer to Yao, why would T-Mac decide to go Kobe mode when that is obviously not the way for the Rockets to win games.

I call BS on all of this crap.

The Bucks game, McGrady was pissed because of crappy defense.

The Clippers game, McGrady started red hot on 11-21, and he took a lot of heat-check shots in the fourth. Not all very good shots, but hardly anything unusual for any superstar guard.

He still got 8 assists, and made several passes to Yao. This is all just a story out of nothing.

Should non-chinese people cover the game unless they understand the game? Should an Brazilian cover the game if he doesn't know anything about it? What about a Portuguese? Spanish? Would they piss yao off too? Do you know there are fictional reports like that in every type of languages on the internet? You are quite ignorant if you don't.

Exaggerated theory and conjecture. Anyone hating on the guy for posting it is taking things a bit far. Ease up. If you don't like the thread, or don't agree... don't post, or better yet stop reading it. No reason to start flaming. This has gone from a "I don't think this is true but what if it is?" thread to a freakin' racial debate. Sign of the times I suppose. Deep breaths, people.

Is it really so amazing that some people from China, or of any Chines edescent whatsoever, are proud of Yao Ming, and that this might have made basketball fans of them? So what if they only like it because of him. I would guess Les and David Stern are GLAD. Maybe with time, they will become true fans of the game because of him. Is that so bad? Give it time.

Is it really so amazing that a reporter, in ANY country, would create tension among readers regarding their favorite player, not to mention a national icon, based upon opinions and subfacts?

This is the most uptight and volatile thread I have seen here in a while. I wanted to turn away, but the whole thing was like a car wreck that you just can't pass by without looking.

I will say that your thread title didn't help deflect the flaming.

It's been humorous to the point that I've wondered if the Clutch Crew comes out "double barreled" this time. It would be a blast to trash both Yao and T-Mac for awhile.

LOL. This thread is insane, and funny.

Ok. The original report was written by a local chinese reportor for a local newspaper. So how could he get all the info for this report while he is in China? Because he watched the damn TV and might surf on some random Chineses BBS. So that's it. What do you guy expect from this sort of journalism? What the author wanted was a liitle sensationalism, and that's why this report was picked up by some Chinese websites whose only intent is boosting their click rate.

Sports reporting is one of a few area in China that the reporters do enjoy freedom of speech. But they squander the freedom by saying whatever they like without evidence, without proper investigation, and without reason. The worst , they made things up. Wang Meng is a reporter for Titan Sports, he lives in Houston and cover whatever Yao does and every game of Rockets. Based on what he has been doing, he should be the No. 1 or at least a top gun reporter in Rockets and Yao reporting in Chinese media. But we all know even he made things up. So what do you expect from a local newspaper. It is sad. :(

You are just equally stupid as the reporter who made up this story, if not worse.

"chinese people should not cover the game unless they understand the game". Then tell me which group can cover the game, but don't need to understand the game. For you, don't speak if you don't know what you are saying.

Who set the rule that reporters can only report facts and no opinions? Look around NBA, name ONE reporter who only reports facts without opinion.

I don't believe this new for a second. It's T-mac who kept feeding Yao when yao was in the slump.

Maybe we need a little drama between our stars. It worked for Shaq and Kobe. If they both play every game to outshine the other player, with their skill level should make for some amazing performances from both players.

sure the US media has bias people, but we also have people who cover the other side of the story. chinese reporters simply report anything good about yao, and if it's bad, make it in favor of yao. US media cover their TEAMS. and if there's a good player, cover more for that player but they cover primarily the teams.

    A) No we don't

    B) None of this is true

    C) Even if it was, the people involved (JVG, T-Mac, Yao, etc.) don't have ego issues ala Kobe, so it would be resolved quickly. But...

    D) See B.

If any one heard the after-game interview of TMac, it can not be any clearer that TMac has been all encouraging Yao and told him not to worry too much about the little slump.

There was not any credit whatsoever in the cited report from China in this thread. Everybody should just ignore it.

Are you new here? I have read stuffs from the chinese sites translated by pryant or other members which bashed Yao pretty hard. And we have heard many times before that you can find the harshest critics of Yao on the chinese basketball forums. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Stop defending yourself. Admit you have said something stupid and move on.
