I wouldn't go that far. JVG wasn't as big a taskmaster as people think. The problem is that he was detail-oriented and Adelman is not. The Rockets always had a solid game plan with JVG as coach and the players always knew exactly what was expected of them. There was clear direction and the players knew what to do.

With Adelman, it's been very obvious the players are lost sometimes and they don't have full respect for him. He doesn't impose his will on the team the way JVG did. Adelman's lack of detail and clear direction to the players, along with him not holding veterans accountable for poor effort (and not getting with his program) is the main problem with this team. Some of it is also Adelman's poor substitution pattern and pathetic playing-calling at the end of games.

Bottom line: The All-Star break is coming up. It isn't uncommon for teams to fade this time of the season. That happens in the NBA to good teams sometimes. But if the Rockets don't snap out of it soon after the break, that means trouble. Blame whatever you want: Injuries to McGrady and Battier, personality conflicts, poor leadership from the head coach. If we continue to see dog games like this from the veterans in March, kiss this season goodbye. A magic wand won't save the Rockets.

P.S: A trade could change everything. I don't believe for one minute this team will remain intact. The myth that all the Rockets needed was their full roster has been blown up. Morey is a smart guy. Either a major trade will happen or, at minimum, a new PG will be here. If Morey does nothing I will lose almost all respect for him.
