Yes we can, Dallas made adjustments and started fronting Yao and Adelman called two timeouts which he didn't even try to counteract what was going on. He didn't draw up anything....just gave a couple of pep talks. Good coaches figure out how to throw a counter punch and protect a 14 point lead with 5 1/2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

There's no truth what so ever to what you typed. That game was played at a playoff level, playoff atmosphere, playoff intensity, with playoff implications, and Houston CHOKED and had a complete meltdown like we've seen time and time again.

There's no reason to sugar coat it just because they're the home team. That's a loser's mentality.

I think a lot of people feel Adelman "has done crap here." The two best players on the team have been knocked out of the last two season's by injuries. Adelman has only had one chance in the playoffs here, and it was without Yao...so cut the bull$#it about him not earning his money in the playoffs against a loaded Jazz team. That series went to game 6 with no Yao, and no Rafer in all the games we lost. Two of the top three scorers missed all or half of the series. I don't think any coach wins that one.

I agree, RA made big mistakes last night that might have cost the game. It happens to good and bad coaches. However you, and this thread in general are making drastic exaggerations.

I'm confident the Rockets win this series and play their hearts out in the next round. While the odds of anything past that aren't good, this team really needs to at least get that 1st round monkey off its back and come into next season on a roll with the whole crew hungry and healthy.

The F- is bascially related to tonights game and the inability to devise a plan to solve the fronting of Yao. Great we won 53 games with a $21 mln hole and yet we all feel this team can do so much more. Also, the Avery thing had more to do with Don Nelson knowing Dirk's weaknesses than Avery's coaching. Nobody said a word when Dallas was within 5 minutes of being up 3-0 on Miami w/Flash and Shaq.

    BTW google solving fronting defenses.

And I guess according to your logic none of the responsibility is the team's? If anything the Rockets biggest opponent all year long was themselves. Yao's fronted, Tmac's Hurt, Yao's Hurt, Ron and Tmac have chemistry issues, blah blah blah. What you're asking of Adelman none of the top coaches in the league do. You basically want Rick to be in supreme control of what is going on at all times and never really letting the players decide how it swings. Look at LA. Does Phil sit Kobe down and tell him how to win? How bout Cleveland? Do they dominate because the coaching staff is a tremendous powerhouse, or is it because Lebron is ungodly talented? How about the Celtics? Are you telling me Doc Rivers even knows how to spell coach? The best teams rely on their players to take control in crunch time, Rick can draw up plays until the cows come home but until the team has a sense to settle down and be mature Rick can't really do a damn thing. Dallas adjusted, fine, you could say that, or you could say Houston didn't execute. As Shane Battier said himself the team deviated from giving Yao the ball. But I guess the coach is responsible for that too right?

I wasn't sugar coating it, quite the opposite, i was giving it a frame of reference. It wasn't a playoff game, and a win was not 100% necessary. If I was to fault the coaching staff for anything, it would be for playing Yao in the fourth at all. Look, playoff atmosphere, implications, all that is BS. It isn't a playoff game unless it's a playoff game. It's binary. It's on or off. That's it. It can smell, taste and look like a playoff game, but it wasn't one. Yes, Houston did choke, but how is that RA's fault? Let me guess, some extra drawn up plays or defensive changes would have stopped the poor decision making down the stretch or the lazy defense? What I love is you basically see that this team didn't come through, but you are in fact the one sugar coating it. You are the one who believes that this team lost because of one man (an easier copout) than admitting to the fact that they all didn't do what was needed. The players choked. Troll the YouTube, find me clips of teams down big, with the momentum against them, and a coach turning the tide. I got one for you, 13 points in 33 seconds, McGrady's glory moment as a rocket. One man did not let the team lose. One man pressed on despite being so far behind. A team can avoid a meltdown if heart and hustle are injected in. RA was doing that by telling them to calm down. But lemme guess, Phil Jackson would have drawn up some plays and stuff?

Yes, the guy won without Yao one year and without Tmac the next, but that has more to do with Scola and Landry than anything else. Their production combined is like adding a Yao or a Tmac to the roster. I swear some Rocket fans are severly underrating the talent level on this team. What Adelman has done during the regular season is great, but too bad nobody gives a crap about the regular season....regardless what you say, COACHES EARN THEIR MONEY IN THE PLAYOFFS AND IN BIG GAMES LIKE LAST NIGHT, last night Adelman was out coached during "money time" which is the closing and crunch time of games.

There's no "drastic exaggerations" made in this thread.....just the truth spoken. Sorry, coaches shouldn't call two timeouts when their team is admist a total collapse after the other coach made obvious halftime adjustments to just tell them "relax guy". The coach is supposed to coach, he's paid to coach, not to be a rocket power dancer. We don't need another cheerleader on the sidelines, we need a coach who'll draw up some plays and make some adjustments during crunch "money" time.

If you honestly think last night wasn't basically a playoff game then I'm done responding to you, because that's rediculous. It was played at a playoff level, with playoff implications.........stop with the loser's mentality

and I'm not excusing the players from complete fault, but incase you didn't notice this thread is about the coaching staff.......and they FAILED last night.

The refs took Yao out of the game in the 3rd we stupid calls. You get better reffing than that in the playoffs. Personally I felt that one ref was trying to fix the game as obviously bad the calls were against Yao. If you don't think that didn't affect Yao and contributed majorly to the loss you are stupid.

And if you think that was a playoff game then you must also think the game before against the Hornets was also a playoff game. That had just as much implications for the hornets if not more as this one did for the Rockets. And the Rockets won convincingly throughout.

The game of basketball is about ebbs and flows. You can't win every game. They hHad just won 5 in a row... 3 out of 5 against some very tough competition also in playoff type atmosphere. Don't tell me that Portland game, Spurs game Hornets game wasn't just as important to those teams as this game was to Dallas.

You can't win every game. And in the end the game last night was not a playoff game any more than the 5 previous ones were and they seem to fair pretty good under alot of adversity then. Yes they will not go far if they don't figure out the solution to fronting Yao. But the coach can draw up the plays but you have to have players to execute. We only have 1 legit star on this team and many think he si not even top ten caliber. It is stupid to blame the coaches for last nights loss and it is stupid to say last night was a playoff when the playoffs don't start till saturday.

If "nobody gives a crap about the regular season" then stop flipping out over this game. It was a regular season game. Yeah it effects the playoffs, but the playoffs don't start until Saturday. And no drastic exaggerations made in this thread?? HAHAHA....news flash buddy, this is a message board. People like you show up here to exaggerate.

If your so hell bent on insisting regular season accomplishments mean little (which I don't totally disagree with) then give your fast typing fingers a rest until the playoffs actually begin. I reference RA's regular season accomplishments here so much becuase there isn't much else to reference. He's seen one playoff series the Rox had little chance to win. Give him a chance to win a series before bringing out the tar and feathers.

Don't even try to start the argument that Adelman had little to do with the team playing well in Yao or Tmac's absence. Of course everyone contributed, but to give no credit to RA and give it to Scola and Landry? Hell, Scola didn't even show up last night. Maybe that had something to do with the loss.

BTW, if this thread is solely about the Dallas game, maybe add that in the thread title to clear that up for people...to say the coaching staff deserves an F- to the 10th power for the job they've done this season is ridiculous. If you want to b**** about regular season not meaning crap, then wait until the playoffs are over to start blabbing. For all you know, this F- coaching staff might coach the Rox to an impressive run in the playoffs.
