Anyone who thinks we're one player away from winning is, in my opinion, delusional. Only one team gets to win the NBA championship. A team has to be lucky (in terms of health), play good defense and play good offense at the right times.

We were not healthy because our starting PG and PF were not playing in the playoffs. Not that it would have made much of a difference because without Josh Smith we were less likely to overcome the series deficit.

This team as a whole needs a whole lot of things, from becoming responsible defensively to moving the ball more effectively offensively. Don't even get me started with the coaching staff, we seem to be out coached on a daily basis.

It's not closing but last year was a golden opportunity. Still wonder what would have happened had Morey traded for Jack at the deadline. Would have helped out tremendously

It's not delusional at all to think a healthy Rockets team could contend with a trade for a player like Lowry.

As long as we have Jason Terry, the hope is alive.

A lot depends on DH's knees. Historically knee problems get worse as time goes on, not better.

Howard should get plenty of rest in the regular season to minimize wear and tear, Spurs style.

Ok if you want to win at all cost please go out there and kidnap Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, Lamarcus Aldridge, CP3 and Lebron James for 1 year. I guarantee the Rockets will win a ring next year.

I mean it is easy to complain and talk about the franchise not winning a ring, but what are they not doing in your eyes? The rockets are capped out, meaning they used all of their money except for the MLE, and even then they plan to use that. The Rockets are desperate for a championship, but they aren't stupid and won't do short term moves that have a low chance of panning out but put the team backward down the line.

Winning a ring is directly related to the number of years the TEAM has of contention, not a specific player. The Rockets cannot slow down the aging of Dwight Howard, for him personally the window might be closing. However if they play their moves right the Rockets can keep their own window longer than Dwight's window, which is why it is important to keep developing young players while you go seek contention.

Can we stop with all the dooms day threads and posts? Some of you seriously need to get a grip. On paper we looked like crap with our makeshift lineup all last year and we still managed to make it to the WCF.

Instead of imagining our impending doom. Try imagining a season where our entire team is healthy. Dwight,Bev,Dmo, and Jones. The Warriors showed what a healthy team that are familiar with one another can do.

Someone on here said it, I forgot who but there are no trophies for winning the offseason. The Warriors didn't do jack in free agency except pick up Barbosa and Livingston last yr. So using a team's offseason as an indication as to how their yr will go is kind of silly.

Enough of this bull****. He loved playing for the Rockets and McHale. If Smoove wanted to go to the Clippers he would have done it at the beginning of the free agency. He's just pissed at Morey prioritizing KJ over him and kept lowballing him.

We could have gotten Isaiah Thomas from the suns and that would have been the difference against GS.

We have harden who is only 25~26 with a core of good young pieces...dmo and TJ so if we get a PG and another allstar the window is another 5 years.

Smoove was arguably our best power forward. Certainly better than TJ. The fact that the Rockets didn't guaranteed him playing was just absolutely absurd. Morey needs to be fired.

Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor. We should be totally focused on winning the championships next year. Things like injuries can come out of nowhere and I feel like Morey's laid-back approach towards roster building has caused us two straight playoff failures.

Imagine how good we could be last year if Harden had had more help...OKC, CLE were not in full strength, we finally beat the Clippers...but the opportunity slipped away all because of Morey's incompetence

STOP. PLEASE. Why are yall so complacent about making WCF?

This is just wrong. Warriors fans would have been extremely salty if their team had failed to reach the Finals. So would Cleveland fans, Spurs fans, Clippers fans, etc.

Our goal should be winning the championship, not just advancing the WCF. Last year we had a great opportunity to make the Finals but Morey ****ed up. Our PG rotation is terrible but so far Morey has shown no urgency to fix the problem.

Although Morey's found some great undervalued pieces, I think he's stubborn in not taking enough chances on guys who may not fit his analytics. That's what separates us from teams like the LAC. They always have talent because they take more chances on talented guys who may have bad outings on their previous teams. For example, we needed a pg last year. Isiaah Thomas was made available. Morey had zero interest in him smh. Isiaah is no superstar but just a good as Dragic, and capable of creating & dishing assist. Absolutely no interest. Nate Robinson, another guy we could've used that was available. So you'll pass on proven veterans, but immediately thew a contract on a euro guard with ZERO experience and a inflated ego?

Honestly, I am not complaining. At this moment I don't believe we as bad as all of the doomsayers are proclaiming. I was more commenting about the "desperation to win comment". I know our offseason was way more successful than last year. I know that we are preserving flexibility to chase KD next summer. However, I hope we don't strike out next offseason. Otherwise that flexibility will have been wasted.

Remember T-Mac and Yao? You never know what's gonna happen. Injuries can come out of nowhere.

It's always about next year. If we always wait for next year, we will never accomplish anything.

Develop young talent is important but it should come at a cost of hurting our ability to win now. The MLE should have been used on a PG/Josh, not KJ.

We haven't really had a significant acquisition this summer. And the team just got weaker with Josh Smith leaving.

Thornton was a good signing. But he is not the piece that can get us over the hump.

Losing Smith sucks! Morey have given the MLE to scrubs like Brad Miller and Papanikolaou before but refused to give it to Smith? Words can't express how angry I feel now.

when they haven't done anything? lol

Apparently we could have kept all three of them but Morey just opted to keep KJ over Josh.

What superstar do you realistically think will come here? The FA market is completely dominated by the players, Morey has no control over it. Not to mention we have failed miserably for 2 straight summers.

Using the MLE on KJ is an overpayment. Use it on a legit PG/Josh is not.

Doesn't mean we are good enough to win a championship. And we haven't done anything to fix our problems.

What is this based on? Can you please back up your claims with news articles because honestly I'm getting sick of people making **** up and then running with it like it's true.

JSmoove signed for 2.5M, that's basically the vet min for him. You can't lowball him more than that it would be against NBA rules.

Do not agree with this thread. And I know what you mean. Just quoting you cuz its what led to my following thinking:

With Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, , Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green, that's 4 starters, Steph is the oldest at 27 and just entered his prime. Klay and Green have been locked up. They already live in an attractive market. And the cap is rising (even though they will have to max out Steph with the new numbers). They just tore up the league. People say it was a fluke but those same people talk about their own teams and say "another year together and we'll improve from within". This is the first year these 4 start all together. They could get better. Klay, Green and Barnes could get better.

It must feel damn good to be a Warriors fan.
