I don't know what to say about Yao and the Rockets. I feel it's both his fault and Rockets fault for not utilizing him well. I still don't think Rox know how to utilize him in proper way. I feel JVG is trying to run the offense and try to be free and let players be creative so they can get more fastbreak. So therefore i think he is not making Yao a big part of the offense anymore.

Man if you're not going to use Yao when he's out there....then it's obvious Yao don't fit into this type of offense...why don't the ROX trade him then...to a team where he's fit. Also why is Yao hardly EVER getting any assist in the game AT ALL!! If the Big Man require double teaming every time and he ain't getting assist in every damm game...then obviously the scheme ain't working.

The other part is Yao's fault for playing passive. I don't know what to say...i don't know wheather the flu has any effect on him but he isn't playing smart like he used to...always seem a bit late in terms of defending. He should not body contact the player when they drive to the hoop but instead anticipating blocking them because he's tall enough to do that. Why did he always play like he's a small player out there. He still need to grow up man ..stop being soft. One thing i would say is...Yao has a small hands and don't catch well, no wonder he ain't getting rebound. He looks to me like a small person trap inside a big body with small hands and upper body...that's why he got pushed around so easily like small player do. It sucks to see this happening...because I thought Yao has arrived and is making a himself a force in this league. Now it seems like back to square one all over again.

Why so pessimistic? You believe Yao's reached his
offensive potential with 31 minutes and 12.7 shots? His offensive
potential is easily > 20 pts.

I would worry his rebounding potential more than his offensive one.

A lot players are inconsistant. But most run hot and cold from month to month, week to week, game to game.

But Yao runs cold to hot to cold in a blink of an eye. This is the source of my frustration. Somebody has to figure something out quickly. Otherwise, we will be in a world of hurt.

The dude is good for baskets when he is planted right next to the basket so guards can penetrate and pass it off to him for layups and dunks. That's pretty much it.

The guy has regressed so much in terms of being able to create his own shot that it might be hopeless. His hook shot is gone. His fadeaway is gone.

25 points is good. But you have to admit that most of those points are of the "Amare" type (being set up for the open layup/dunk by the guards). I don't think he got many points by himself in the low post this time.

Actually I think that's the good way to get your center going
    when he's struggling: easy shots.

Kobe was very good at getting those shots for Shaq.

Haha this post pretty much sums up the typical rocket fan. Yao can do no right in their eyes. He gets 25 points, but they were too easy to get. Better have a qualifier for each game. Yao better score, but they better be of the hard variety and not the easy "Amare" variety.

Yao was not the reason the rockets lost tonight. Barry and Wesley shooting a combined 2 for 14 and Sura/Wesley/Barry going 2 for 12 from the 3 pt. line was why we lost.

Yes Yao was struggling in the first half (b/c he was trying to be more aggressive) but back in the Hakeem days, if his guards went 2 for 12 from the 3 pt. line, we usually lost too.

The Rockets are still gelling and while I was initially against the trade for Wesley, I think that we really do have better chemistry now. We run better, we get more open shots... now we just need to hit those open shots so we can win.

Yes, Yao can and should play better and tougher but I still maintain that his problems stem from an inadequate supporting cast particularly the guards and power forwards (our power forwards are an absolute joke). We have NO point guard and it's been a gaping hole since the season began and because of that, our offensive effectiveness is close to nil. Does anyone anywhere have any idea what our offensive philosophy is? Can you say that our offense exploits mismatches and weaknesses of other teams? Do our PGs run an smart efficient offense? Do any of our guards and forwards scare opposing coaches and/or players? Is this a team that forces others to adjust to what WE are doing instead of the other way around?

I think that before you folks ship Yao off to the Lakers, you need to stop and consider what his play and that of T-Mac would be like if he was playing with a Jason Kidd or a Steve Nash or a Rip Hamilton instead of Bob Sura, David Wesley & the late great Charlie Ward.

Yes, tonight he fouled out because he was constantly forced into numerous defensive rotations as the last line of defense because the opposing Laker player (Odom, Kobe, whoever) just blew right past the matador defense being played by Mo T, Howard, Wesley, TMac, and on and on and on. So go ahead, get rid of a franshise center. After all that's what Orlando did after they made it to the NBA Finals and they haven't been back since. But they did get the opportunity to watch their ex-center go on to win 3 NBA titles with the Lakers so I guess that's the future you guys want for the Rockets as well. Just be very careful what you ask for because you might just get it. After all, they'll still have Mutumbo to play the 5...

Hillboy, I noticed that too. The reason Yao fouled out was because his last 2 fouls were due to MoT getting burnt. We all know Yao is slow so when he has to come in from the weak side to guard someone supposedly being covered by another rocket, he's gonna get a ticky tack called on him. That being said, I wouldn't be a true rockets fan without saying that Yao needs to be traded and his house needs to be burnt to the ground.

    uuuhh...you should pay better attention.

dragon isnt a "hater"(god Im starting to hate that term)...dragon lives in Cali and thinks that if the rockets get rid of Yao...he will come to California...so that dragon can go to LA or GS or SAC's message boards and defend Yao from the disloyal hater fans there when they whine and b**** about his inconsistent play....rinse and repeat.

Kaiser.....man...dont I know...Id give my first born for the ability to choke someone electronically across the internet..

Yao's in his third year and all, but I can't help but expect more from him. I just don't see him being dependable when it counts when we get to the Finals some day. I would trade Yao if we could. To Chicago for Hinrich and a big man anyone?

This board should be renamed yaohaters.net - a place where typical rockets fans can vent their hatred for Yao, since it's been like that for 3 years now.

The fans have already given up on JVG. TMac is the next target after Yao is gone.

    Well said Hill!
There were at least 3 times that Yao passed out the ball before he repost up, yet our DEAR guards made bricks without even trying to feed him again. I guess they thought Yao's passing out is green light for them to shoot. I have seen so many plays of Shaq, that he can always get back the ball when he reposts. Sigh, after so many trade, we still need PGs?

Another thing pissed me off is Yao's 6th foul. WTF was MoT doing then? If you can't guard your man, pick the foul for Yao!

Because they don't want talented and softhand Yao, they want physical and Powerful Shaq instead.

I want Yao gone so that guys here can begin to focus on throwing garbage on TMac. It's not exciting to keep bashing the same one over and over. We need fresh target(s) at least on a yearly basis.
