First, it wasn't his decision to come here. He was traded. Second, he's here to play with the Rockets. He isn't one player's teammate any more than another.
Can you say that Shaq had never had a bad night? Kobe, never? Hell, even Jordan had off nights sometimes. You people should get a break.
McGrady is the better player of the two, but we need Yao more as the roster is presently constituted. I'm still fine trading either one if the right deal is on the table. I don't see either as a top ten player in the league. They're also better at different times. Early on, Yao can wear down certain opponents. But at the end of games, Yao has a tendency to disappear and TMac is great in the clutch. You lose McGrady, particularly late in a close game, you're in trouble.
Most talented: T-Mac without a question. Most consistent: Yao. Most well rounded player: Artest. Best player? Really is too hard to say. Depends on what you deem more important? Consistency? Ability to explode for 60 points? Be able to put up points and stop the opposing team's top scorer?
When or who was the bad defense from, was it when T-Mac couldn't stop Ray Allen or was it when Ron Ron couldn't stop Ray Allen?
Seriously, where is the no defense coming from? I will admit, in his current condition, he's slower. But in general, he is a good defender. It's how he first got playing time. He helped shut down Dirk in that playoff series against Dallas. He often takes it as a challenge when he finds himself matched up against a scorer on D. With Artest and Battier (whenever he's back), Tracy will most likely get to chill out on the defensive end even more. Good for our offense hopefully.
T-Mac has an off night and he sits out the fourth quarter in Dallas. Yao has an off night and he's forced to play and play and play, limited minutes be damned.
Don't blame us for visions of princess cuts on our fingers, we just entertainers don't point ya fingers, ay, I'd rather be rich than broke and famous. Because OP.
Adelman kept Yao on the floor despite the fact that he was a liability in the Celtics game. Whatever issues he has he's going to be forced to play through them, simply because he is the centerpiece of the offense and the Rockets cannot afford to let Yao have too many bad games.
what I DO REMEMBER is that Ron had no say in where he was being traded to. What I DO REMEMBER is that Ron saying that he thought he was traded to the Lakers when he was told he was traded. What I DONT REMEMBER is Ron saying he wanted to be traded to the Rockets because of Yao. thats the type of attitude that is just terrible and would label you as a certain "OF" its about the team this whole thread in someways is pointless. We have three very good all-star/potential HOF caliber players on the team why care who is the "best" its about the team and how they fare. If rick rolled out a lineup of wafer, head, hayes, dorsey and rafer out there on the court and the team won I would be happy since the TEAM won even if the fantasy numbers for our "best" player goes down
Funny how all the Chinese think Yao is the best player. I love the guy, but whats the Rockets record when Yao is out as opposed to Tmac being out?
Comparing a center to a guard makes about as much sense as comparing a qb to a running back. In term of individual skills, who knows? In terms of importance to the team offense though the biggest brick in the wall is clearly Yao. He's been the team scoring leader the last two years. I'm pretty sure he's been the team leader in scoring, rebounding and blocks the last two years but I'm too lazy to look it up.
Tracy's PPS has been much higher than recent years because he's getting to the line a lot and making the free throws. His bad defense wouldn't be an issue if Battier was playing. The stagnant offense was more of a result of Yao than McGrady. We run the offense through Yao, and Boston's defense on him worked to perfection.
Until anyone of them makes that resounding impact to close out the NBA finals for us, they are all a bunch of Jokers in my book, each one of them has something to prove in this late stage of their dwindling career . . . . nuff said
The offense has looked pretty crummy in some spots, pretty good in others. The issue with T-Mac and the offense though isn't the same as with Yao. T-Mac doesn't move enough without the ball and he's got a bad habit of turning into a black hole when he gets the ball.
Stagnant offense is in part Yao's fault, but it's a shared responsibility. We use up too much of the shot block trying to enter the pass into him, instead of moving the ball quickly to the weakside when he doesn't have great position. Tracy has the ball in his hands the most, and he tends to slow the offense down. He need to learn to find that right balance of shot creation (for himself and others) and playing within the system to maximize our overall efficiency. I recognize he has the most difficult job of all, but that has to be his burden.
