Most of his time was with our starters. Who was supposed to guard him when he had all those open look?
Quit the sky is not falling! Morey twitter post... Rockets starters: 91 points, 38 rebounds, 24 assists. Heat starters: 56 points, 16 rebounds, 14 assists.
There will be times when the starters don't play as well. On this night, it was the bench who had an off day.
I thought that Houston might have benefited from going small some when Beasley was on the floor. Jones was finishing around the basket well, but DMo struggled defending the perimeter oriented Beasley and didn't take advantage of his size on the other end. Next game between these teams, I think Houston may try Casspi instead of DMo (or Jones if he struggles) or maybe go even smaller and stick Harden on Beasley.
Yes, Morey will get around to adding some vets to the bench this summer or next year. Getting the starting unit figured out is the priority this year.
Getting paid millions of dollars while playing like a marginal NBA player? Yea he should be thanking the stars everyday to have gotten the deal he did.
I know many of the posters want coach to stick Canaan in there, but at this point it really isn't the time to do that. I feel that not only are we contending for playoff spot, but also for a championship. We cannot afford to kill whatever little confidence Jeremy has left. We also need to build D-Mo's confidence because is not as if the alternatives are better. This is the team we have from now going forward and experimenting with rookies in the line ups will do us no good if they turn out to be flops and we kill the confidence of our already mentally fragile players (I'm looking at you Lin). Sometimes you just gotta stick with who you got and let them get out of whatever funk they are in. Hopefully Jeremy gets his head together and starts playing better. Without his play off the bench, the bench truly is crap since no one else is very good at creating their own shot.
Our bench is better than they've been playing lately. Getting Lin past whatever funk/injury/confidence thing that's causing him to play like complete dog **** will be step one. Same with Asik though his play is somewhat understandable because of how long he was out. If both those guys get right then the bench is fine.
Even in pre-game warm ups, Lin looked like he's sulking the whole time. Guy looks like he's just checked out. Meanwhile Beverly and Canaan are putting on a dunk clinic throwing ridiculous bounce pass alleys to themselves--with swag.
Very well said- the team is talented enough that a slump by any one rotational player is not going to result in an uptick in losses. Putting Canaan in this game would not have been smart UNLESS Lin decided he couldn't go tonight. He will get better again people. (hard to get worse at this point)
Glad we won, but the bench is quite weak and needs to be addressed in the offseason (I'm sure it will). Not a knee-jerk reaction, I've been saying it all season. Hamilton is a clear upgrade for sure, and since he had an off-night the bench looked extra bad.
I expect a "get well" game tomorrow from the bench as a whole against the Magic. We really need them to step up after a game like tonight. I'm sure the starters are going to be a little fatigued. If Lin plays bad tomorrow against Orlando....
