Alston is nice guys.he always pratise his shooting skills in the summer holiday, especially 3-pt. Look at this perfect 3-pt %, I believe Rocket would be one of best teams .
lol a bit of an overstatement... nevertheless while we'll have to wait for the reg. season and playoffs to truly test him, it would be the best thing if he is an instant rookie sensation, just like Sam Cassell was - I think he actually improved his production in the playoffs, and even then stepped up in the clutch...
I don't think Novak will have any problems keeping his percentage high because he never got the looks that has with Tmac and Yao on the team and he pretty much shot it from the NBA three point line during college from what I can gather from the video I've seen from him. Also in college he was very good at using screens to create space and as we seen, he doesn't need much to get his shot off. The kid can become a slower Reggie Miller if we run plays for him.
Novak is the best 3 pt and FT shooter on the team. He us unbelievable and his D isn't bad either. He's not active or fast but he stays on his feet with his hands up. All he he needs to do on the defensive end is not be a sieve out there and JVG would be an idiot not to give this kid 25-30mins a game right now.
Novak was doing a really good job on Walker in the first 5-10 minutes. If he keeps that up with his 3pt shooting, he should see 15-20 minutes on the floor a night.
Snyder's probably doing alot of the same things on the Rockets he did with New Orleans but its just a better fit on this team. He's grabbed boards and defended decently. Has not passed the ball much though, which was a Byron Scott gripe. Rockets have Alston, Tmac, Head and Spanoulis getting assist numbers so he doesn't need to be a distributor so much. His 3pt% isn't high and probably won't get higher. With the sudden wealth of good shooting on the team his slashing game is a nice compliment. All the big men shooters- Battier, Novak, Padgett, can easily finish a combined 40% and better. Besides Head its the others who take 3's like Alston, Tmac, Wells, Snyder and somehow someway V-Span I hope can shoot a decent percentage.
I remember several people explaining to us last year why a zone would not work and would end up being a sieve, and would not help protect Yao. And JVG never used it. Now it is the new genius solution. Perhaps Morey ran stats on zone usage by other teams and was able to show JVG that it can work??? Any insider insight on why the philosophy change? Van Gundier?
Didn't much care for Alston's play last year, but I have been amazed by Rafer's play so far in the preseason. He'll be a hell of a point guard if he can keep it up his 3pt shooting.
I'm just a little surprised by T-macs 3point % but the fact is T-mac 3pt % has been declining now for the past 4 years in a row.. he's not the 3pt threat we need.. We need him to be a damn slasher like he used to be in Orlando.. i've said it time and time again.. T-macs best assett is driving to the basket to make the layup, little J, reversal, Jam, or double team so he can dish it out for a sick assist.. If you looks at his Fg % and 3pt % they have been declining.. I'm hoping for a young T-mac resurgence that can get him back to his A-game... I'm not looking for those 1 or 2 games that he's spectacular I'm looking for everygame to be consistant.
major props to rafer! he new what he had to work on in order to stay on this team and he did it. and novak... the next 3pt champ in vegas!
Novak has played himself off of IR onto the end of the bench and now into 8 man rotation. Props to Novak.
