Our 2nd unit could probably make the playoffs in the East

The odds are that would be true, simply because they'd have more shots at the play offs, and an easier road to the finals (giving more chances at winning the Conference or Finals).

Considering that this year it may be possible to get HCA in the Atlantic division with a sub .500 record, it would be really hard to miss going deep into the play offs if you're a half decent team.

As it stands now, there's only 2 teams in the East (Indiana and Miami) that would even be seeded in the West, and 11 teams in the West that would be tied for the 3rd seed or better in the East.

That's just crazy when you think about it.

Given how weak the East is, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2nd units on at least half a dozen Western Conference teams would be play off teams in the East.

Yes, sucks that we're in the WC. We're likely 5th/6th seed by the end of this season.

Very true. NBA is no longer a level playing field now. The teams in the west will suffer from more wear and tear before the playoff, while heats and pacers just need to gear up for the showdown btw them.

the balance of power between eastern & western conf. is so lopsided these days, It makes beating the crappy teams fr the east so much more important (and, every games against the western playoff contenders more critical. )
So far, we recorded only one loss playing the east team, not bad. The rockets should keep it up and should never play to the weaker components' level. The nets' game tomorrow hence is a must win, and can not be taken lightly!

the coach should organize a 7 game series between the two unit and who wins out gets the start job.
