Hmm... that couldn't have anything to do with the fact that Oklahoma got to pad their stats against UTEP, could it? Also, please don't bother responding with anything about UNT. UNT made a bowl last season... they aren't great, but they are worlds better than UTEP. UTEP gave up 77 points to freaking Kentucky...

I could probably go in there and tear apart UTEP's defense...

Playing an extra game doesn't hurt either. OU is 3-0. Texas is 2-0.

    2001 Big 12 All-Academic First Team.....

Cat: He played 2 and a half quarters vs. UTEP, and not the first quarter vs. Bama....barely the equivalent of a full game.....as the D was on the field for most of the 2nd half vs. Bama.

But in "barely the equivalent of a full game" he has almost the same attempts on the season as Simms. Since those are similar, you have to note the competition, and UTEP is clearly the weak link among the opponents...

I wouldn't be touting up UNT just yet. Sure, they made a bowl last year, but they still had a friggin' losing record.

    They aren't good.

Exactly. They're not as bad as UTEP, but they're both cupcakes....and Alabama is better than UNC.:p

Not even in the neighborhood of UTEP. And Alabama is not better than UNC... that team has mediocre talent written all over it. At least UNC has a couple of playmakers at QB and WR...

Alabama nearly beat North Texas as bad as we did. I'm sure you'll have some sort of brilliant excuse like the refs gyped us or the players stopped playing because they were winning though.

Give me a break. And which team has more votes for the top 25? Which team lost to Miami(OH)?

Works can solve complex fluid dynamics equations but can't pickup a safety blitz? Seems kinda suspect to me. I specifically remember the announcers during the Bama game saying something to the effect that "he struggles with the mental aspects of the game." :D

mduke, the argument that Bama is better than UNC is moot. Neither team poses a threat to Texas or OU, which is why they remain unranked. Also, before you start nutting your pants over Hybl, remember he did it against the same UTEP defense that allowed that fatso QB at Kentucky to chalk up 77 points.

Did I mention how Bush league it was of Stoops to throw the ball into the endzone with a 62-0 lead with 27 seconds left? Just run the damn ball up the middle, take a knee or something. If he wants to get Paul Thompson some snaps why not do it when the score's 35-0, not 62-0?

I agree. That was weak on Stoops part. Of Course when Houston played at Texas in 2000, Mack did the same thing having Simms throw a deep pass with under a minute to go and UT up 48-0 (i think that was the score)

I can't wait until the 12th. Texas is gonna get them some Hybl n Bits.

Yeah, I'm sure when the players have a huge lead at halftime there is always the same motivation that you started the game with.

If you really don't think that is a factor, you need to actually play some sports... it's almost impossible to not drop your intensity when you have that big of a lead on someone.

That game was in pouring down rain in terrible conditions, which are better for the underdogs. Alabama, if not for a terrible call, should've lost to Middle Tennessee St. at home. I don't particularly care about the top 25 voters that started with CU and NU as top 7 programs...

Right. That's what OU did this weekend right? Or the countless other 50+ blowouts that occur when teams like UT play teams like North Texas.

North Texas is not a good team. You sound like an idiot saying they are.

When did I say they were? The only thing I said was that they were definitely better than UTEP by a substantial margin. That doesn't make them a good team.

I don't care if you win by 30-0 or 70-0. How you play in the second half of games that have already been decided is not a trait I look at when I'm comparing two great teams.

Alabama returned 17 starters from a team that finished 7-5 in the SEC. They are substantially better than UNC.

UNC won 8 or 9 games last year (forgot which), and returned a lot of starters also, including at QB, RB, and both receiver spots. (can't find the exact number) Playing a motivated UNC team (Mack Brown) on the road in miserable conditions is a much more difficult challenge than facing an Alabama team with a quarterback who can't even hit a wide open receiver at home.
