It's way too early to compare Landry to OT. Lets give Landry more time in the league before putting him on the chopping block against OT.
I love landry but OT was nice. A lot more length and HUGE hands. Remember those one handed full court passes?
I remember when OT was traded and how disappointed and skeptical fans and even the players were. What did OT do after the Rockets? As far as I remember, next to nothing. Was it injuries? Bad fit? Or did he actually have a decent rest of his career?
Hey, I was there! Also a memorable game for this play. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GTzfJP6PeFY&hl=en_US&fs=1&start=76"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GTzfJP6PeFY&hl=en_US&fs=1&start=76" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Not his fault... which leads me to my next point... if he were given the oppurtunity... it would be Carl... Carl is turning out to be a go to player... something OT was not.
Would Carl be a go to guy with Yao and/or Mac playing? No, so the same can be said of OT. He was playing with Hakeem. Carl is nice but I forgot how important OT was to Hakeem's game/development.
I think he means that three quarters of the posters on this board never saw Otis Thorpe play... I don't know, just a guess.
Just like its ok for you to assume i don't know who he is. Great. Your proving me right day after day.
Sorry but I must say this thread is full of fail....OT was a seasoned all star and was good enough to net us clyde... Mandry is just in his 3rd year anyways
Otis Thorpe. No question at all great underrated PF. He was the perfect complimentary player to/for hakeem
There was no one in the NBA at that time that can finish under the basket with a dunk like OT. He was better than Hakeem, Jordan, Ewing, Barkley, Robinson, Drexler, Malone, etc. His large hands allowed him to hold the ball like like a baseball and throw it down lefty or righty when he was in a crowd.
Not sure if folks remember the throwdown on Robinson & Cummings was it? I'd like to see that clip if it exists...
TOTALLY AGREE I was about to ask the OP how old was he . . heheheheheh Otis Thorpe .. . the BEST REBOUND OUTLET PASS COMBO I ever saw [most times with just one hand] Rocket River
I dunno man. Mandry uses much butto to get rebounds. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5HIbzmJeB9U&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5HIbzmJeB9U&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Simple... 3/4 = Three - Fourth's of the people on this board didn't join until Yao or T-Mac came aboard, so they probably have no ideal of who OT (Otis Thorpe) is.
Wonder if OT is part of our rep system. Landry is the 4th player in the ladder, can OT possibly be above Calvin Murphy? I just noticed the James White no rep has been changed to Jermaine Taylor...
