i dont get it Uverse in my area. My only choices is Dish or Directv. For internet...well..I have a nice way of sticking it to Comcast, but I won't go into detail.
Just because of this thread, I have just canceled Comcast. Too bad Uverse isn't available in my neighborhood, so i'll have Satellite
The U-verse online availability checker is not always correct. It had nearly all of my neighbors listed as eligible but not me. The neighor to my right and left were eligible but not me. Type the address of a few of your neighbors in and see if they are eligible. When they turn the service on in your area, it has to be manually entered in to AT&T's system. Sometimes they miss a house or 10. If they skipped your house, call and complain. That's what I did.
I hope so, because I live right across from Royal Oaks and I can't understand why it wouldn't be available yet. I really wasn't that concerned before since I was getting a nice cable discount from my apartment community, but now that Comcast wants to start charging me $20 for HBO ... it's time to say bye-bye.
Dish sucked for me. Picture was crappy and service was totally unreliable; one drop of rain = outage. My two cents...
To be fair let me list drawbacks to U-Verse. You can only have 4 TV's receiving a signal at any given time. A DVR recording something will count as 1 TV. You have to have a box for every TV. They give you 2 standard boxes and 1 DVR box at no charge. You can rent more boxes, if you like. I have six boxes in my home. It cost's 5 dollars each per month for the 2 extra boxes. That's pretty much it, as far as negatives. By the first of the year, U-verse will offer additional streams in to your home, which will increase the number of TV's that can be receiving a signal at any given time. As has been said, the channel selection is terrific.
Same here. I just finished ordering U-Verse. I ordered the 400 package with every movie channel, sports package and HD along with the top tier internet and my bill will still be cheaper than with Comcast, and I don't even have premiums with them. The only thing I'm gonna miss is Howard TV, but I'll get over it. I ****ing loathe Comcast.
Internet service is part of the package with U-Verse. When I signed up, they have three packages to chose from depending on the speed and channel lineup you wanted. I signed up for everything since it was free for 60 days and they never switched me back. It's wonderful.
Yes, I do. I went with the U-400 package with the fastest internet they offer (6 mps download). It's plenty fast for me. You need to be running at least Windows 2000 to use U-verse though.
damn i wish i could get U-Verse here. I'm in an apartment and tried just the general address around here and it didn't show up. Might be thinking about moving to DISH. Unfortunately I don't want to lose the Internet I have now. Wonder if that will see a price hike...
That's exactly why I signed up. Also, if any of you are looking for employment. AT&T is hiring installers left and right. I think they start off in the 11-14 dollar per hour range. I asked on behalf of my son.
Does anyone else know any other high speed internet alternatives other than comcast? The search button doesn't work at the moment so I cant find it. I think it was some local houston company that offers awesome high speed internet. AT&T isnt available in my area.
I only use my cell. And I don't know any of my nearby neighbors that have AT&T. It sucks, I guess I could call and find out. I'd seriously consider getting it like today if they had it.
This may do it for me and Comcast. I've been ticked at them lately, and now these horrible charges. $4 effing dollars to save them time and manpower opening letters and cashing checks??? First Choice Power did this and it's the reason why I'm canceling them when my 2-yr contract is up. Total BS.
