Wonder if this means the Phillies have given into Roy's demands and are looking for talent to swing our way from a better farm system. Wade Davis anyone???
Not sure. Wouldnt mind or not opposed to Wade Davis. Also seen Reid Brignac's name thrown around.(That's the guy who BrooksBall says looks like a 15 y.o. haha)
No way they give up Wade Davis for 1/2 year of Jason Werth. As much as I would love for that to happen, I do not think he is getting moved.....
I barely recognize any of these names being tossed around, except for the ones who have had considerable time in the majors. I didn't even remember who Brignac was until you reminded me... and I believe I said he looks 12.
Freaking Oswalt!!!!!!!!!!! I just read on espn that he might block the deal if his option isn't picked up.
It's been mentioned... could just be posturing by Roy and his agent. I worried at first, too. Wade may also be posturing asking for an untouchable prospect. Let's be patient.
i hope that's the case. i'm glad that they aren't settling for the happ package, if it's what we thought it was. if he was indeed asking for dom brown, he's not going to come down from that, to happ and garbage.

@BernardoFallas: #Astros P Roy Oswalt on reports he is demanding his 2012 option be picked up by Phils: "I don't handle that part of it." #hounews
Probably referencing his agent, I assume...which now that I think about it, if I'm an agent OF COURSE I want another guaranteed year at $16MM since it is very unlikely he'll get close to that if the option isn't picked up. It's likely that in Roy's next 2 starts, he'll probably allow 2 runs over 7 innings and lose 4-2. That will (hopefully) prompt Roy to remember that he wants to play for a winner and he'll tell his agent to drop the demand.
Not sure if it makes sense but Roy may even be doing this for the benefit of the Astros in addition to himself if by some off chance a team is willing to pick up the option. I'm probably just reaching but as far as negotiating, Wade can use it to say "I'll get Roy to drop the demand that you pick up the final year if you throw in player X or are willing to pick up X amount more of the contract." It seems that Roy should know that no team will likely pick up the option so maybe Wade convinced him that this tactic would help us and Roy is playing along. Again, probably just reaching...
@brianmctaggart: Roy Oswalt when asked about reports he wants his 2012 option to be picked up: "I heard that today on TV. I don't know anyting about it."
Hah... or that could be the explanation. I also read several weeks ago that Roy never asked to be traded and that it was actually the Astros brass spinning it for whatever reason. I don't recall all the details but it changed my perception of how things went down based on what I had read up to that point. It wasn't like Roy didn't discuss it but the situation was made to sound slightly different than reported by most media outlets. I'm sure others saw that same article. I have no idea how legit it was.
