Yeah, I think it's cool when the Astros win these days, but I recognize they need to rebuild. Some of the prospects in the St. Louis organization could be up for grabs and they have some good prospects (see: Shelby Miller). Mostly I just want the best deal that nets the best talent for the Astros organization. Our hearts are in the same place though, I think: what's best for the Astros. I guess what I'm saying is that if the best trade to improve the Astros' farm system would be with the Cardinals, I wouldn't care whether the Cardinals are in the division or not. We're bad enough that we shouldn't be constrained with such things.
If the Cards are the destination Shelby Miller has to come our way. Jim Callis was on Matt and Adam this morning and wasn't to high on the Cards system. I would ask for Miller and Rasmus thus putting the ball in their court to see what they can do with that.
Totally agree. The sting of him pitching there will go away in 2012 or 2013, and I do want what will net us the best prospects in return. I don't know how Miller compares to say Happ, only that Happ is already what, 27? Is Miller a power pitcher or a location guy? I guess I should read some scouting reports.
Miller is a Texas fireballer. His fastball is mid to high 90's at times. His FIP at low A is 2.83 and he is striking out guys at a ridiculous rate. He was the 19th overall pick last year for the Cards.
From an unrealiable source, I heard the names Eduardo Sanchez, Allen Craig and Shelby Miller are the names being discussed coming from the Cards.
I doubt they give away Rasmus. I have no problem trading him to STL except for the fact as you mentioned, they have Miller and then who else? As David Coleman put it from the Crawfish Boxes: "a bunch of okay OFs." I'll add in excluding Rasmus, who I dont think they'll move. So Miller and ??? http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/38362658/ns/sports-player_news/ http://houston.astros.mlb.com/news/..._id=12474476&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou
SI_JonHeyman oswalt to the #cardinals talks are "very real'' according to a competing gm. mlb.com said oswalt wants to go to st. louis (Robert Flores of SportsCenter --->)RoFloSC: Kurkjian: "I've been told by a GM that Roy will def move by deadline. But don't consider Cards front runners." #MLB
I'm not as high on Happ as many are. He's really struggling in the minors this year while rehabbing, he's not particularly young for a prospect, and his stuff isn't really that amazing. Personally, I always felt last season was a bit of a fluke. Someone like Shelby Miller has real nasty stuff though. He could be really good.
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/st-louis-cardinals-roy-oswalt-houston-astros-trade-talks-072210 If they dont like Miller as the centerpiece, then there isnt a deal to be had with STL imo.
Someone should mention to Drayton that if Oswalt goes to the Cards he has more opportunities for Roy Oswalt appreciation nights over the next couple seasons.
They didn't suck in '08. It came down to the last week of the season. You tried to compare Jeter in a Red Sox uniform to Oswalt in a Cardinals. Not even close. If you're an Astros, everyone should the Cards. But it's not much of a rivalry.
That is a JOKE if true. Myers will NEVER ever top the season he has had this year. The Astros need to trade while his value is high. Look what happend to Wandy.
Did you not read what I posted after that? And I never compared anything to the NY-Bos rivalry, that's the best rivalry in sports, I said to --->to me!!!!<--- it would be weird to see Oswalt in a Cardinals uniform just like Jeter in a Red Sox uniform, could you imagine Pujols in an Astros uniform? I can't
