Oswalt would consider trade to Washington http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
I know that the nationals wont trade their two rookie pitchers. But if I were the Astros, I would take a hard look at their power hitting catcher in A ball Derek Norris. If he's one the table, I take that deal. I really dont think we can get a top 100 prospect pitcher out of this deal but a position player is reasonable. Plus if this catcher and castro both pan out, we can have them like a Mathis-Napoli combo that LA has.
Ed Price of Fanhouse: An official from another team said word going around is that Roy Oswalt would approve a trade only to the Phillies, Yankees or Cardinals.
It's amazing how silly some of these reporters are. I'd bet my life this "official" has some connection to one of those three teams, and would do just about anything to lower expectations for what he'd have to give up and potentially lower the leverage the Astros would have from other teams. Yeah, Oswalt himself says he would go to Washington, yet we're supposed to believe there are only three teams in the league he would consider? It's one thing for a few fans to be gullible, but reporters are supposed to know better - especially when the "official" likely has a clearcut reason to lie...
Somehow, I just knew the Astros would wait around long enough for Oswalt to either start pitching poorly or get hurt. I'm at a loss with this team and the way it's run.
Do you honestly think teams out there don't have the same thing in mind? Roy has been pitching great this year, but overall ALL his peripherals had been in decline over the last few years, and his health had become spotty (not bad, but no longer a guarantee to throw 200 IP). All this being said, some team out there will still give up a decent prospect for him. Also, Roy won't pitch as bad as he did last night every game.
While I agree that Oswalt was bound to come down from the level he had been at the first two months of the season, I will not give the Astros the benefit of the doubt when it comes to whether or not they feel they should have already moved him. They haven't done anything lately, on the field or behind closed doors, that would convince me that they are doing what's best for this team and this city. They are in complete denial about this team's prospects and they wouldn't know a good offer if it bit them in the ass. I guess this is what it has felt like to be a Pirates fan the last 15 years.
except that they felt it for 15 years, and your team was in the playoff hunt leading up to Hurricane Ike, just 2 summers back. where we are sucks...but let's not lose all perspective.
Eh, i'm still trying to figure out why opening the roof was such a big deal.... I guess a louder crowd is not allowed by MLB.
Ding ding. For Selig to move a home game from Houston to WRIGLEY FREAKING NORTH against the Cubs is pretty ridiculous. I know Drayton only cared about getting his share of the revenue from concessions, but they could have easily moved it to Tampa Bay. Well Tampa is like WRIGLEY FREAKIN SOUTH, but it would have been a little more convenient for our team that wasn't even supposed to be traveling. The greatest thing was most of us were without power listening to this bs on the radio.
Man, I was stuck in Chicago, with the flooding that was going on there, watching it in a sportsbar surrounded by (thankfully not that many) Cub fans. And because I was so wrapped up trying to find out weather news, I only heard that the game was still on and assumed it was at Minute Maid. When I found out the details, I was angry, got more and more angry as the game went on, and was given a lot of space by the Cubs fans.
Yeah I watched all season, then found out like two days after that Zambrano no hit us. The losing then proceeded. Dude I would have gotten jumped in Chicago probably. FREAKIN SCRUBS. I was so pissed off about that situation. Enduring life without electricity for 10 days plus being screwed by the commissioner. That topped it off really nice.
