Yep. As for Best Director, it only took 78 years to nominate an American woman for Best Director. Maybe by 2082, we'll actually see a woman win.
UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. I'm so pissed off right now. I'm literally shaking with rage. Naomi Watts deserved that Oscar. She gave the finest performance in the history of film. Charlize Theron... uh... right. Whatever.
It's somewhat amazing to me that there really haven't been any surprises tonight. Everything seems to be going exactly how pretty much everyone thought it was going to go.
Mulholland Drive was deplorable. How anyone likes the "Emporer with New Clothes" director astounds me. 21 grams I have yet to see.... or do in an evening.
I don't necessarily disagree, but Oscar is often as much about making a statement as it is about actually trying to pick the "best" in any given category, which is why I thought Coppola had a chance. Eastwood has won before. He very well may be nominated again. Given the history of the Academy Awards, Sophia Coppola has seen her last nomination for Best Direction.
Haha... Even though he didn't win, Bill Murray had the best reaction of any loser when they were doing the split screen. Just a cold hard stare to his left... it seems as if he reacted just like most of the losers wanted to... rather than just putting a happy face on and clapping hysterically, when they're really pissed as hell.
I would've preferred Bill Murray to win. I think he was robbed back when he wasn't even nominated for "Rushmore". But I don't think I can argue with Sean Penn as the choice.
Finally. A first choice of mine gets an Oscar. About damn time. Penn really deserved it fellas, he was lights out.
