While I like Billy Crystal's hosting, I did think Steve Martin did a good job last year. I would not be opposed to Martin coming back and hosting again.
As long as you can admit it. BTW, I'm down for some movie-going this summer. Just keep your crazy politics out of it!
its pretty hilarious that you think I am being owned left and right but there is a poll with 70+% of the voters saying your reviews are worthless mrpaige - thanks for finding that thread, it was yipengzhao that was the CA2 doofus lol
Scarlett Johansen is the hottest 19-year old I have ever seen and has a sexy voice to boot. I saw none of the winning movies this year so I'm not particularly concerned about who won or not. Cold Mountain was a great book and I just wasn't interested in having my own visual interpretations replaced.
see? i'm not really feeling that one. i think she's kind of weird looking myself. i agree with the voice part though.
I kept seeing pictures of her on some of these slide shows and is it me or does she look a lot like Charlize Theron? Hell, considering how "different" Charlize looked last night, this Johansen girl was definitely the better-looking of the two.
From Rottentomatoes.com: 21 Grams - 80% (88% cream of the crop) Mystic River - 85% (97% cream of the crop) The Last Samurai - 67% (55% cream of the crop) ... LOTR: Return of the King - 96% (97% cream of the crop) LOTR: The Two Towers - 98% (100% cream of the crop) LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring - 94% (97% cream of the crop) pwnt. I am l33t r0xx0r!!!11 All right. Enough with the "button-pushing." Reviews are subjective, anyway, and you ARE entitled to your opinion. We'll continue this conversation when HP3 comes out this summer...
I am amazed at how annoying I find Nomars reviews!! I try not to let them get under my skin but I can´t help myself!! Look Nomar you watch a lot of movies ok true but a lot of people do that including myself. You don´t need to post like you are the only one who knows his stuff ok. Because frankly you don´t. 21 grams for best movie...please no! I give you that Sean penn should win an oscar but for that movie and not his part in Mystic River though. And what´s with the LOTR hating. Could you be more of a freaking movie i...t The Whole world is wrong and you are right.. Ok sure whatever.. you are the man or something. You come out as a person who has to feel smart and important by having an opinion that goes against most people. Well it doesn´t work buddy but please do keep posting those clever negative movie reviews that points out flaws that aren´t there. This is not against you as a person but I have a hard time coming to terms with you as being regarded as a movie capacity because you are not. You can keep posting your views but don't post them as truth OK it's annoying
Nomar has no credibility here regarding LOTR movies...heck...in reality....neither do any of us... LOTR movies Rocked and the academy recognized it...way to go Peter Jackson...now go make the Hobbit for crying out loud. DD
Amen, brother! From what I saw of his work in "Fellowship", it would beat LOTR all to hell. Really! The Hobbit is such a different story from the Triology. Very funny, very exciting and very "accessible" to a broader audience in a way LOTR is not. He has his Gandalf. The hardest part would be how to cast Bilbo. (assuming he didn't use Ian Holm, who is probably too old now for the role) He just needs to get the rights.
Congrats to Peter Jackson, and the cast and crew of LOTR. It was an amazing movie. I also hope he makes The Hobbit. 25,000 employees....dang.
Unless the issue is money. (I guess it could be more complicated) I don't know why he would think it would be done better by someone else anytime soon. Not that it couldn't, it's just that Jackson should be given a shot at it, imo. Many subjects, including this one, have, and will, have multiple versions made over time. I think Jackson has shown himself worthy of being allowed his chance at it. Plus, everyone would make a bundle.
I'm sure the rights issues will eventually get worked out, but I get the feeling that Christopher simply doesn't like the hype surrounding his famous father and that it causes problems for his privacy, etc. My understanding is that Christopher didn't have a choice with the LOTR film rights as they had been sold-off long ago by Tolkein himself. Apparently, he gets some say in the Hobbit. Though maybe not, I looked up a more recent article, and it acted like the Tolkein family was more willing to go along than in the past, but that United Artists had some sort of claim.
ROFL. None of those movies were up for Best Picture this year. Retry? Abort? Fail? Let's keep going, for the sake of argument (other nominated movies): Master & Commander - 85% Lost in Translation - 94% Seabiscuit - 79% Cold Mountain - 73% City of God - 92% Pirates of the Caribbean - 79% In America - 89% House of Sand and Fog - 76% Big Fish - 76% Girl With a Pearl Earring - 68% Thirteen - 80% Something's Gotta Give - 70% Monster - 82% The Cooler - 75% Pieces of April - 83% Whale Rider - 90% Brother Bear - 40% The Triplets of Belleville - 94% The ONLY two movies to beat ROTK: Finding Nemo - 99% - won "Best Animated Feature" Fog of War - 98% - won "Best Documentary Feature" So, it seems Rottentomatoes.com is pretty accurate. ... Oh, BTW, other Best Picture winners going back to 1990: Chicago - 87% A Beautiful Mind - 78% Gladiator - 78% American Beauty - 89% Shakespeare in Love - 95% (close...) Titanic - 88% The English Patient - 86% Braveheart - 83% Forrest Gump - 81% Schindler's List - 97% (finally, a movie that beats ROTK... and rightfully so...) Unforgiven - 100% (Meh. All right movie.) Silence of the Lambs - 97% (a damn good movie, too) Dances of Wolves - 81% 3 BEST PICTURE winners in the past 14 years have surpassed ROTK in the ratings. Yeah, I'd say ROTK is fairly good company. (pwnt again.)
