That's what I think of when I think of the Major it's how I found that world.

I think that depiction is the best.

I appreciate your sentiment. But I, a white people, would be whining just the same if they made a similar requirement for whiteness, Christianity, anti-drugness (already real), pro-copness (already real). All this social programming sucks. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Are we still taking movies to be creative works? If so, you can't reverse-engineer rules onto creativity. I mean you can, but it's censorship and dictatorship.

In the olden days, all the artists in Italy and England and Spain better damn well be in line with the royalty or church, or they could end up in the tower or dead. So we're used to poets, painters, sculptors, musicians and the like creating under artificial constraints. But it does look pretty lame in retrospect.

China of the 1960's is another example of the deep buzzkill of going too "progressive" in the arts. The Communists really did do some progressive stuff, like bring equality for women! They rammed it on in there. But their art has sucked ass for 70 years.

I don't think anybody is whining about the criteria...as you mention, pretty easy to meet. I think some are pointing fun at it. For example, what do you think is more important, changing the Oscar criteria a little bit, which won't actually impact much at all, OR actually having more minorities in these films and in these jobs? Hundreds of movies made each year...only 5 or so are even in consideration for an Oscar. So, really, all this is saying is that if you think you're one of those 4 or 5 movies, make sure you make a couple small changes so you can check the box. If you're one of the hundreds of other movies...never mind, you're good.

If you ask Japanese people they will say a lot of their anime characters are Japanese.

If you ask others though they will say they are white.

Also, @KingCheetah , the color of the eyes don't matter for Major because she's a cyborg. Lore wise, she is 100% Japanese. Also, Anime characters have all kinds of crazy purple hair and orange eyes, they DGAF about that.

But, she is a cyborg, it's really not her real body IIRC but she was Japanese.

    The Oscar isn't a man. It's clearly a Necromancer
