Didn't live up to the hype, but a pretty good fight nonetheless. What the fudge was up with the judge that had it 116-112 Oscar?
I was rooting for ODLH, but I gave it to PBF, by virtue of 6-4-2. Floyd landed more but with less power - ODLH did not jab enough, split decision is a good result. Floyd's punches were BS but he landed more of them, so he deserved the win I suppose. Good fight, not great, but, ehh, really wanted oscar to win for the punchers, just wouldnh't happen.
Did any one notice 50 Cent wearing a Rockets hat as he came into the ring with Mayweather? I did not know the outcome of the Rockets game and I was taking that as a good omen....sigh.... I thought De La Hoya should have won a close decision.
I don't know why you guys think De La Hoya should've won, he was clearly dominated the second half of the fight and could not get a clean hit on Mayweather. It's boxing, not UFC; the number of punches counts, and Mayweather got many more shots in and did it with great precision. Oscar flailing away wildly with Mayweather on the ropes did not impress me, though the crowd seemed to think that it meant he was dominating. It should have been unanimous, Floyd is just a godly defensive boxer.
I think everyone knew PBF was not going to rock Oscar with any sort of power. he was going to outbox him an that is what he did. Don't agree with the split decision, but eh ..what difference does it make. Its just odd that almost all the pundits had Floyd winning by 2-3 rounds, at least and that one judge had Oscar up by 3 rounds. Odd.
just as i thought , didnt live up to the hype, but okay fight none the less. the crowd was clearly behind oscar, but the pretty bad boy won. the fact that he was wearing the mexican flag as trunks and a sombraro added more insult to insult. the more skilled fighter won against the bigger stronger fighter.
I thought it was a great fight, and lived up to the hype. Other than the boxing, the referee Bayless did a damn good job.
Well if you had kept your pants on and stopped pleasuring yourself during the fight, maybe they would have thought otherwise.
Glad I didn't buy it. I'll watch it on HBO next week. To me, Mayweather is the greatest defensive boxer to come out in the last 20 years. I doubt he could knock out my 73 year old Mom, but he can duck punches with the best of them. The only reason he made Arturo Gotti's face look like mincemeat was because so many fighters had previously beaten the crap out of Gotti's face.
so i just watched the fight and it did not live up to the hype boxing should hype up a cotto mayweather fight, not dlh mayweather. it was obvious before the fight that dlh could not get with mayweather's hand speed, but there were still some people picking dlh
I just watched it too, didn't won't to pay the 50 something bucks IMO Oscar won the fight, Mayweather was much quicker, it looks like he threw more direct punches than Oscar
I watched the fight last night and felt that Mayweather should have been ahead on all cards. I wish he would have fought more in the middle of the ring, but it was a pretty good fight amyway. Mayweather is too good to have not hit DLH more often and traded more heavy punches with him. The end of the fight was good -- there should have been a couple more rounds like that at least. In the end a good, but far from classic fight.
Very boring fight...I don't think Oscar did enough to sway the judges...I do believe he landed more effective punches, but maybe they'll be a rematch...
The way mayweather fights he doesn't get hit cleanly at all so he still has a "pretty face" (ie. unlike most boxers he doesn't has face all messed up and thats why he is called "pretty boy" floyd.
