Sam you with over 8000 post in a Rockets forum is a Magic fan? Or a Stevie Fan? Or is it that you live in Orlando and by default like the Magic yet you always wants to cheer the Rockets so the over 8000 post?

I'm not slamming, I'm just courious. You like the Magics chances to win a championship MORE than the Rockets. That is just plain in all your posts. So you must be a fan of both right? Wouldn't you just love to be proven wrong and one day have the Magic and Rockets plan in the championship?

In that situation, who would you cheer? Rockets? Magic? Stevie?

A team with Steve Francis will never win a championship...unless he changes. But I'd say at this point he is officialy an "old dog."

I like neither teams chances to win a championship in the near future, which is all that matters.

We're dealing with small %'s about future events that are not likely to occur due to simple mathematics - there is a 93% percent chance that neither team will win a title in a given year - and as I said, major overhauls will be necessary for both teams before it happens; the Rockets need 2-3 new starters before they become true contenders, the Magic need 2-3 new starters -- pardon me for not getting excited about remote future possibilities and proclaiming that our 16% chance is so much better than somebody else's 13% chance - in four years lots can happen.

Like I said, it's like MemphisX taunting us after both teams lost in the first round last year - not really worth debating when the future is so murky and when nobody has accomplished anything of any significance yet.

I merely stated a lower limit which DHoward will have to exceed. In order for Orlando sans Hill to be more likely than the Rockets to win a championship, DHoward will have to be better than Yao (because T-Mac definitely is better than Francis).

How likely is that? My assessment: not bloody likely. As I have said before, the probability is that very few teams will ever bother to double Howard. In contrast, Yao is almost averaging 19/9 despite his injury, which you deride as a "hardship". And the numbers barely begin to measure his impact on a game.

But speculation is the whole point here! If you refuse to speculate, that is your privilege -- but it will be noted that you have avoided the question of which team is more likely to win a championship in the next few years.

The team that is most likely to win one in the next few years is the Heat or the Spurs.

LOL, fine, right now today, 1-25-2005 at 19:44 EST, The rockets have a 22% chance of winning the title in the next 3 years, the magic have a 17% chance, with a margin of error of +/- 20%

I hope you're satisified with this.

You're saying that both teams are 2-3 players away from a championship, correct? Then the only constant you can look at is the 'core' of both teams.

In this case: Tmac-Yao, or Francis-Hill-Howard.

So then everyone's asking which core is more likely to win a championship, if those '2-3' pieces are in place?
