Well, well, well. Orlando wants a better draft pick? They should have thought about that before they started winning all those games. They'll get no sympathy from me.

How about the Rockets trade #8 and #32 in exchange for the Magic's #11, #44 and their first rounder next year?

The Magic don't have any players that I am really interested in, except for the ones that the Magic won't give up.

But if the Magic were to throw in a 2007 1st Rounder, I think the Rockets would have to think about that. Next year's draft is gonna be strong and deep, it would be nice to pickup another pick.

If we did, guys like Carney, Ager, Brewer, and JJ should be available.

Didn't they trade away next year's first rounder in the Darko deal?

Why would Orlando want Sheldon Williams? They have Howard and Darko. Both are young PFs with amazing upside. Gay makes a bunch of sense for them, but they won't smell him at pick #8. Perhaps Carney is another player they are interested in.

Orlando also has the draft rights to Fran Vazquez (10th overall selection in last years NBA Draft).

Caution must be the key word here. If the Rockets Management seem sure that there favourite selection would be available at 11th then I would make the following trade:-Houston Rockets send the 8th pick in the 2006 Draft to Orlando. The Orlando Magic sends Houston the 11th.pick in the 2006 Draft, Darko and the two second round picks of the same draft.
Darko is young and very talented with great potential especially on a developing inside outside team. The best of Darko is yet to be seen!! I think that Orlando would give up Darko but not the others already suggested.
We use the two extra second round picks as trade bait in our packaging of either Howard or/and Swift.

As terrible as the Magic management is, there is no way they would do that. Darko played very well for them and I don't even think moving up 3 spots in a weak draft is worth dealing him. Plus, they gave up a 1st rounder for him so essentially it would be trading 2 1st Rounders and 2 2nd Rounders to move up 3 spots.

ORLANDO WILL NOT GIVE UP DARKO TO MOVE UP 3 SPOTS. THAT IS INSANE.

They probably wouldn't even move Darko to get the #1 pick this year.

    Best idea of the thread.

The Rox trade #8 and #32 for the #6 (Minnesota).

In a separate but unrelated deal ;), The Rox was our TE to get Eddie Griffin (or some other salary cap fodder) from Minnesota.

#32 should be a nice pick with nonguaranteed $$$, but the draft is shallow and JVG would rather win now than develop more younger players.

Yep, I don't think the Magic have any intentions of draftin Shelden. They have Dwight, Darko, Vazquez, Battie, and Outlaw manning the frontline. I remember there was an article floating around this board that talks about Carney being the pick of the Magic, saying he could finally replace the scoring they loss when they traded TMac.

I would think if the Magic move up, they will draft Carney. A Nelson, Carney, Howard trio could be very dangerous in the Eastern conf.

Now that would be interesting bait. Assuming that we can get him to come over of course. I know that Orlando reached on him a bit last year, but he was touted at being a mid 1st rounder. #8 for #11+Vazquez would be huge value on our end. And if Orlando is looking at Sheldon Williams, then Fran probably isn't in their plans.

Of course this is contingent on being able to bring him over.

For one thing, Ariza is a free agent. We can make him an offer July 1 -- with no strings attached.

You think that's enough? Why not ask for Dwight Howard also?

Assuming the guy the rox want is not there at 8 and they think they can get a comparable talent at #11, how about a swap of 1sts and Turkeyglue for cap fodder?

I would consider some form of two part deal where we exchange picks then they trade us Hedo Turkoglu in exchange for taking Howard back.

I figure they wont trade us Darko and while Tony Battie might make sense for dumping Howard's contract, it just seems like too much of a drop-off in talent for us to do that. That's where Turkoglu might make sense. He's a career 39% shooter from 3-pt range with plenty of size and versatility. He can play multiple positions, shoot the lights out and give us that spark off the bench we've been lacking.

Just an idea, not even sure if I would do it myself but it is still something to consider.

Houston would want Tony Battie for Juwan Howard, not sure Orlando is that desperate. If Ager or Brewer is our man and can be had at 11, we might just use part of the exception + Deke's contract (he retires) + Ward's contract for Battie... and swap 8/11 picks.

What about using the swap as a means of getting rid of Juwan Howard? We could then draft Sheldon Williams or Cedric Simmons.

If we can get a decent player from Orlando in a trade (Hedo or some other guard/forward), for examplethen a trade down would be the smart way to go.
