Houston? I have to wait to see how they will be rebuilt in this off-season before I can draw any conclusions.

I thought they were right with Spurs and Mavs at the beginning of this season. You all knew what happened. This team didn't have depth and the role players were so crappy. Yao or T-Mac, if either one of them is down, this team will become an instant lottery team (Last season's record shows that).

Having two stars don't guarantee you anything. The key is the management, man!

    I agree with HOOP-T and A_3PO.

Terry will resign with the Mavs and honestly I would trade Diop and Dampier for one decent athletic big man who can post up with a good spin move. I think the new force in this league will be Phoenix with Amare back so as a Mavs fan personally think we need quickness and athleticism at the center spot not the Duncan/Shag style play that we are used to.

I am very interested to see how Mbenga and Pavel pan out next year. If they are decent then they will be better already than both Diop and Damp so I say trade them and try to get the back to the basket big man who can score in return

imo its gonna take longer to build a roster than just this offseason. Next season, we have players coming off the books, another pick, more FA's to choose from, ect...

If we stay healthy, i'd say the 07-08 season is where we can expect the rockets to be a top 3 nba team.

Completely silly article, it should have been about the Spurs, not Mavs.

#1 Duncan was a force in the Mavs series.

#2 The chances Cuban is outbid for Jason Terry is slightly higher than slim to none.

#3 Dallas core is either young or in their prime for the most part. Contrast this with the Spurs. The three best Dallas players (Dirk, JH, JT) are younger than the two best Spurs players (TD, Manu). Dallas also has other promising young players in Harris, Diop and Daniels. The Spurs only good player who is young is Parker, and their role players are older than dirt and showing it (Barry, Bowen, Finley, Horry, NVE, Williams). The other Spur who is a servicable starter and close to his prime, Nazr, is a free agent with a much higher probability of leaving than Jason Terry.

As much as I hate to admit it, right now the Mavs will be the favorites in the West next year. We needs a lot of pieces around Yao/Tmac to catch them--this won't be easy to achieve in one offseason. The Spurs also need a major infusion of athleticism and youth to reverse this playoffs outcome, this won't be easy for them either because they have little tradable assets outside of their three key players (the Mavs have more tradable parts like Stack and his expiring contract, or Daniels). Now if Amare returns close to form by next year I think Phx will be better than the Mavs, but what I understand is that is a big if concerning Amare's type of injury. So again, barring lots of things changing, the Mavs have the best team in the WC. Now the Heat and the Pistons may still be better however.

Further, the Spurs are nearing the end of their window. If you want to talk about a team needing to make some changes and gambles now, it is them. With the exception of Parker--who though a very good implayer IMO never be a carry the team type player--every key player they have in on their downward trajectory.

I just don't know how much longer Nash can hold up.

I love him to death, but the questions about stamina, fatigue, and durability kept coming up in those tight series.
