man, I hate Christie as much as the next male, non-Kings fan, but the depth and breadth of Weisbrod's a-hole-ness just astounds me. I would pay a lot of money for a chance to punch that guy in the face.
Who knew Christie had the cojones to call out his GM publically? Who knew he still had cojones? Maybe his wife lent him his back for the occasion.
People are really overrating the trade of Mobley. The Magic was 13-10 with him, 4-3 without him before the trade. They were 11-11 after the trade but before Christie got injured. That started a rash of problems including Hill's injury and Francis' debacle with the cameraman that resulted in a suspension. As Kelly Dwyer said, Orlando never was a top 3 team. They are borderline playoff team in the east, and their record eventually reflected that.
Looks like Dr. Evil to me. "We have decided to offer you a new contract, Mr. Francis. Something in the neighborhood of one MILLION dollars. "
I am not an Orlando fan, but a big Francis fan so I am dissapointed that they didn't make the playoffs but his team was decimated with injuries to key players and the mobley trade was plain and simply one of the dumbest ever. To put all the blame on Steve is unfair, but he does deserve some of it especially with his TO's. Man if he could ever cut down on those he would become one of the best in the league. I am interested to see Dwight Howards development, the guy is going to be like Amare Stoudamire but a better rebounder and defensive player. ANyways, at least the Rockets will be most likely be in the second round of the playoffs so that is sweet. Peace.
<em>"The ironical thing is that I've done nothing but defend the kid," Weisbrod said. "If anything the fans, media and even his own teammates have wondered why I have been so easy on him. </em> The guy's a typical "suit". Look a how he uses term like "the kid" to deliver the subliminal message that he's the superior one. He's used similar wording when referring to McGrady. Also, people were giving Weisbrod way too much credit early in the season when they were winning. It wasn't the McGrady trade for Francis that did the trick. It was Hill's return. The additions of Francis and Howard only offset the loss of McGrady. You'll note that Francis and Howard without Hill are losing just like the Magic of last year.
i remember him calling mcgrady a kid. being that he is like 25, i thought that was a tad disrespectful. isnt weisbrod himself only like 35? and he is calling a 35 year old MAN a kid? what an idiot. weisbrod is the one who is the kid, or boy or whatever. ive never ever heard a gm say as much stupid crap as this guy in a season. you never hear gm's saying the stuff that he has and especially about his own players. he is clearly over his head and i cant imagine him being around too much longer. after awhile you must ask yourself is it all these players or is it the gm.
Exactly... Weisbrod is 37 years old and Christie turns 35 in a couple weeks. That guy has a real complex. On one hand you would think it would be refreshing to see management not give in to players all the time, but Weisbrod is just such an ass that he absolutely deserves what he gets. I don't think he will last at all. He absolutely deserves to be canned, but I'm doubting it will happen this summer at this point.
They miss Hill now and they missed Francis when he was suspended. Back to back losses to the Bobcats? Before the season started I thought they were good enough to make the playoffs, but not good enough to be considered a lock for the playoffs. They still should of made the playoffs. Although a team's record ALWAYS reflects the TEAM as a whole it could of been better if one player, in this case Francis, would of been there the whole season not just three quarters of it.
wow, weisbrod taking jerkassness up another notch with that christie article. "what, i've been dissing him? on the contrary, i've been his biggest supporter, he's crazy. yeah, people think i should've been harder on him, but i've been so nice. i'm pretty sure i've got it all figured out and i must be right. he must just be making it all up. and tmac, yeah i never said anything bad about him either. i'm pretty sure it's just everyone else."
I have never seen a GM speaks out as much as Sissybrod. Does this guy think he is the coach or something? When have you seen Jerry West, Carroll Dawson or Larry Bird have as much interviews a year as Sissybrod?
I'll take "Phrases that you thought you'd never hear in a million years regarding the 2004-05 NBA season" for $2000, Alex....
Or have a presser to wade through the "Doug Christie situation?" Kobe Bryant has situations. Shaq had situations. Eddy Curry has situations. Washed-up, PW'd 35-year old guards from Pepperdine don't have "situations."
