WTF. How the hell is he going to be a 10/10 guy in this league when he's already at 15/12. There's a major difference between the two, and there's no reason to think that Dwight isn't only going to get better.
never said he would be a 10/10 guy, just putting my opinion, and another one.. maybe i shouldve said star in this league or not
What can you say - Stevie leaves the Magic and they literally erupt into one of the top teams in the league. Wow.
Steve Francis career is getting close to over, as I said earlier as his athleticsim wanes, his abilities will significantly decrease. He is not smart enough or a quick enough thinker to adjust. Once he can't get to the hole, he is NBDL material.....and he is close to that now. DD
Don't get crazy, the Magic are very hot right now, but at 35-44 they certainly aren't one of the top teams in the league. It takes more than a good 20 game stretch to do that. The chemistry did suck with Steve leading the way, but to say he's almost done is a mistake. On the worst day of his life he's still better than Rafer Alston.
Magic have now won 12 of their last 13. In that stretch, they've beaten Dallas and Detroit at home, and they've beaten Miami and San Antonio on the road. They deserve to be in the playoffs, and I hope they pass Philadelphia.
That team is impressive. That Dwight Howard is an animal. 28pts and 26rebs tonight. Although Yao is still owning him, but Howard might be a better player at some point because he is very very young and seems to have more potential.
Regardless of who gets the better of whom, I think that Yao and Howard are going to have some great battles against each other in the future. Howard and presumably Andrew Bynum and Greg Oden are going to be vying with Yao for dominance of the Center position. In a couple of years, we could be seeing some amazing matchups among these four, and harken back to when Dream, Ewing and Robinson were all going at each other.
I guess you're right, although it's flipped. Shaq used to be the lone younger player going up against the established guys. This time around Yao is the older guy going up against a trio of younger studs. And if I was really going to make comparisons, I'd go with: Yao=Kareem Bynum=Shaq Howard=Moses Oden=Robinson Now these comparisons aren't perfect, but you look at their size, strength, athleticism and skillset and I think they are very close. Yao and Kareem based on body type and offensive game. Bynum and Shaq because of their unique blend of mass and quickness/explosiveness. Howard and Moses because of their size, strength, and rebounding prowess. And Oden and Robinson because all the scouts are comparing them to each other, and it seems to be on the mark based on what little I've seen of Oden. Too bad Yao isn't 3-4 years younger, then all of these guys' prime would coincide with each other. But as is, I think there is enough overlap for them to do battle for many years. Especially since Yao's game relies on skill and size instead of athleticism, so presumably he will continue to be effective even if he loses a step or two.
as much as i hope darko, howard, turkeyglue and jameer can be a solid core as especially if they continue to play hard and as a team... but it worth remembering Golden state finished last season with a run like this they are certianly a team to watch especially if they add another decent player in the draft.... and maybe trade Hill for something nice also anyone know the status on their pick from last year is coming across next season from europe??
this was talked about by espn at some point -- goldenstate didn't have anyone as good as howard, which is true.
They also don't have a headcase like Baron Davis which is also a good thing. Dwight Howard is the perfect building block and they've got some solid pieces around him. Orlando has put themselves in a nice position.
I hate to say it but I would probably trade T-mac for Howard if were some how possible. Howard is going to be a monster. His size a quickness alone is going to make him superstar. If he develops any kind of go to move, he will be an mvp candidate.
Every year, there seems to be a flavor of the month that has a really good stretch in late March/April that the media annoints as the "suprise team next season", but fails to do anything. The Magic might be able to avoid that if Howard keeps developing.
You mean like last season's/this pre-season's so very golden Golden State W's (er, L's)??? BTW - Poor Stevie. I wonder if Alexander still wants him back?
No because Yao is becoming dominant NOW! Howard maybe be mvp in few years but will he be more than a couple of points and rebounds above Yao? Yao does what he is supposed to do, which is punish any team that chooses to single cover him. We need Tmac or another superstar to step and have role players that are caple of punishing opponents for doubling on Yao and whomever. Don't get me wrong, I think Tmac is one of the top 3 swing men in the league but Howard has the ability to become the best PF in the league which is saying alot when you have duncan, garnett, and stoudamire playing.
