Darko is the real deal, its funny that detroit gave him up, I guess they couldn't keep him on the bench long, but he is almost a rasheed wallace clone. good post game, good passer out the post, mobile, and can shoot from the outside. he's really made a huge difference because dwight howard isn't a true center and tony battie doesn't require double teams from the post. darko adds another dimension to that team.
since the Rockets are out.. I kinda feel like rooting for Orlando to make the playoffs if they can get a miracle the next few games. The playoffs would be pretty interesting if that would happen.
I see the same thing, especially when he's defending the post. No wonder Sheed kept singing his praises when everyone was dissing him, he took him under his wings and was showing him the ropes.
Orlando just knocked off San Antonio ... in San Antonio. Wow. Good for us on a couple of levels ... Orlando won and San Antonio lost... which means they're closer to Dallas and it's more critical for the Spurs to win the rest of their games (including the season finale in Houston).
I told you guys from waaaaay back when that Darko is the real deal...just give him time and watch what will happen...
i never really ever knew one way or another if darko was any good, never got to watch him (he never played anyways i guess) but im rooting for him because of all the people that talked crap about the poor guy (rich poor guy )
I always been a big fan of Darko. In fact i m a big fan of all the international players in the nba. I once said Darko and Dwight Howard will form their own version of twin towers in orlando but i got dissed for it. Poeple around the world are teasing Darko, bringing up incident like he once broke his hand while shooting jumper. Please remember Darko is only 21, he will be a very good player. I see him as a 18/9/3/3 type of player. I wish rockets' version of human victory cigar (lampe) will have darko's kind of potential...
whats with all the Darko love? I believe he is gonna be in the L for a long time as a back up. This is a number 2 pick...'nuff said. a bust.
IMO Darko has too much talent to become a bust. He will become at least a starter level player in the league, with strong possbilities of becoming a star.
It seems they have found the proverbial chemistry, sharing the ball, balanced scoring, unselfish play. Amazing turnaround since they haven't added one superstar, its been addition by subtraction, get rid of SF and improve your team by 1000%. Still the math just doesn't look right, I look at the Magic roster and think no way can they stay this hot. This team will be interesting next year. They should be way under the cap and be able to pick up some good players in the off-season as well.
Don't get too hyped up on the Magic for next season. Remember how the Warriors finished strong last year when the games didn't count but fell apart this year. (I know the situations are different). Still, I agree the Magic will be interesting to watch because of Dwight Howard and maybe Darko. But that franchise is so snake-bitten I just have a feeling something will go wrong.
Recent teams who were hot stuff to end the year, were predicted to make the playoffs the following season, and laid an egg. 00-01: Los Angeles Clippers 01-02: Los Angeles Clippers 02-03: Chicago Bulls 03-04: Cleveland Cavaliers 04-05: Golden State Warriors The one team that DID make it? The Dallas Mavericks, after a great end to the 99-00 season. Not saying Orlando will or won't make the playoffs next year, I'm loving the way they've been playing since the first of March (even when they were losing back then), just thought I'd throw those teams out.
Since you have that info in front of you ... of all those team (including the Mavericks), which one does the Orlando Magic have the most in common with , in terms of w/l record, quality wins (with the team's original lineup), etc.
Spurs, Pistons, Heat and Dallas don't think you can find a team playing a tougher schedule than that. It would really be fun to see them make the playoffs, that would be the story of the year.
Based on player typing, I'd go with that Bulls team. Chicago made a late-season switch to a shoot-first PG (Crawford over Williams ... Magic went with Nelson), and watched as their bigs came of age in the season's final months. Eddy was a monster that spring, and led the NBA in shooting percentage. And after a couple of years of trying the KG thing, Tyson Chandler decided to try the Marcus Camby thing. Then again, Dallas is close. Dirk matured and Nash got healthy in that season's final months, and they also got rid of few headcases (Ross Perot Jr., Dennis Rodman).
magic beat sixers, Dwight Howard 28 points 26 boards damn this kid is good do you guys think he can be a star in this league? or will be a 10/10 guy?
