I remember that game. That was the brawl game I believe. So beautiful how McGrady was very efficient in that game. DD would be so proud
wow i am speechless great great memory you sure remember all that meaingful details about yao ming i don't think anyone in this forum could tell you off the top of their head that yao was in foul trouble, hats off to you by the way, what color of underwear was yao wearing and how many times did he say i love you to his wife that day?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the one genius move for the NBA, from a marketing perspective, was to tout individual players over teams. For example, Larry Bird's Celtics vs. Magic Johnson's Lakers. Larry vs. Magic. Jordan vs. Magic. Dominique vs. Bird. etc etc... The idea being people associate more with a dominant individual than with a team. Hence the marketing of superstars, big emphasis on all-stars, and preferential treatment for said individuals, complete to this day with the extra crab-dribble Lebron gets (like he needs it), to the "benefit of the doubt" calls that Durant gets. Yao may be a dominant center, but he never seemed to get the calls, perhaps from a marketing perspective someone deemed it bad news to give Yao the consistent "benefit of the doubt" as to calls. And it kinda makes sense. I mean, Yao if given a fair shake on calls would simply back people down for layups or short unglorious hooks. Much more marketable is the little guy defeating the giant than the other way around. I see your point as to TMac's behavior. But I also see that TMac is every bit as much abandoned by NBA marketing as he is being sucked into it right now. NBA marketing loves TMac. He is the best drama story going. NBA superstar who "couldn't get out of the first round". They are begging for a big comeback, they are drumming all this up around TMac, who kinda plays into it quite frankly. But I still see TMac as a victim somewhat. I mean, he plays into it, I mean, he has been formed by it, his identity is an NBA superstar. Irrefutable is that TMac is a great player and we'd all like to see him back and making a contribution without stirring the water so much.
By the time Yao reacted to it, Shaq was already gone. There was no time to wrap Shaq up-- in fact, fouling was going to risk a 3 pt play. It's not lack of effort, it's lack of quickness if anything. McGrady, on the other hand, was back at the basket watching Moon coming from a mile away.
this whole thing really is getting annoying. i dont see why people are posting threads trying to make fans choose between the organization or a player.. the truth is mcgrady said himself that he was going to go by what the organization says. and we havent heard a complaint from him since!! so why try to create conflict within the fans when there is no conflict between mcgrady and the organization people!! if mcgrady had a problem he would have said something to the media by now. so i think it is pretty obvious he is on the same page with coach if he is being held out and isnt saying anything about it or complaining.. he must have realized that coach just wants him back for good and hopefully he is proving he can do that.
yeah this was a perfect example that everyone in the nba gives up on a play from time to time.. i dont see why people were surprised when t-mac did it when moon dunked. noone wants to be on a poster.. you people act like lebron would have tryed to block moons dunk. the only time lebron gets his blocks are from chasing down small guards and rejecting big men from the blind side.. but when someone like carmelo tries to dunk on him what happens?? he gives up on the play. if someone can please pull up the video of melo dunking on lebron.. evryone does it on occasion ppl!!!!!
Um, Yao was out of the play on a dunk that happend over the span of about 5 feet. Yao made no attempt to get back into the play. McGrady was in position to mkae a play on something happening 20-30 feet from the basket on in. He had a chance to get better defensive position. Yao didnt really have much chance to do anything. Its one thing when a post guy gets in dunking position and you are out of it. Not a whole lot you can do, and most of what you can do is bad like drawing a foul and making it worse. Its another when its a peremiter play and you still do nothing when it comes all the way to your bucket.
lol shaq actually bumps yao and puts the ball down on the floor before slamming it. If shaq was close enough to bump yao he couldn't have fouled him? lmao unbelieavable
some of you what's the point writing up a hundreds of words to explain why yao ming was still a warrior by letting shaq dunk in that situation he clearly gave up on that play. he had time to foul shaq but decided not to. its not that big of a deal, he only quitted on that play even if he's the most uncoordinated creature this league has ever seen (menke bateer being a close second), he has the right to get lazy like everyone else do at times. no?
no because everybody plays hard and never quits on a play on this team buddy. Especially Yao. that play was doctored. it's not real
Yao in foul trouble IS meaningful... Yao has to be smart with his fouls when he plays Shaq. It is as simple as pie, guy...
i disagree. playing smart is never simple as pie for yao he's basketball iq is extremely low, mostly due to his born slow reflexes and uncoordination.. so he left his pride aside and quit, as he was in foul trouble ...(was he???)... whatever, he had 5 fouls according to you
