Our best matchups, in order: Blazers > Nuggets > Spurs. Defensively, we play best vs teams that get their scoring from the sf/sg positions b/c we can neutralize them so well with Battier/Artest. Offensively, we do well vs. teams with big centers, b/c they get dominated by Yao. Smaller teams tend to just put out a PF who play fronting defense and then shoot jump shots, both of which hurt Yao.

We haven't matched up well with New Orleans in recent years, but it seems like they are a step slow this year. So I think we could take them, but they scare me.

It's amazing how the Blazers would almost rather face the Lakers or Jazz than us. Those teams are our nightmare matchup.

Jazz makes their play look cleaner, that's why they want to play Jazz.

why Lakers? well, the blazers will have enough excuse if they get swept 0-4 by lakers.

i hated that game! the blazers didn't deserve the win.

BROY hits a catch and shoot turnaround 3 pter with like .4 seconds left on the clock.

total home cookin. i was really pissed that night.

No kidding. You would think after nearly 40 years, they would get the phrase right.

Its, "Houston, we've had a problem"

Lakers actually play very poorly at Portland for some reason. Blazers always give them fits.

We're a bad matchup for everyone not named the Lakers and Jazz. The Hornets, Nuggets, and Blazers do not want to play us.

You'd think after 40 years people would stop thinking thats a funny cliche to use when talking about "bad" and "Houston" in your article.

Odd how match up works sometimes. He mention yao as a nightmare, but both Lakers and jazz have players that will score in the paint- Gasol, Boozer.

He then mention how strong artest is, and yet Lakers have the best SG in the western conference in Kobe.

Finally about how comfortable AB play, and Jazz have DWill.

If its the toughness of defense that trouble them, Jazz is just so much tougher.
If its the movement of offense that trouble them, Lakers plays with much more fluidity.

No matter how you look at it, if they are having problem with Rox, they should be having problem with Jazz and Lakers as well.

The illogical of NBA that attract all of us strike us again.

Shoot, everytime I look at the standings I like to take a win away form the Blazers and give it to us. I'm stll not over that fluke win.

Yeah, I can't believe writers still feel compelled to use that saying... Just switch it up a bit if you absolutely need to, how bout, "Houston, they'd be a problem."

Gasol and Boozer don't possess near the strength that Yao does. Thats why teams front Yao. With Gasol and Boozer you just play behind them and try not to give them an easy shot.

They are talking about on the defensive end I assume. Kobe isn't going to be a major defensive factor in the playoffs.

But Dwill will always be Dwill no matter where he plays. AB has fans in Portland. We might as well have home court there as well.
If its the toughness of defense that trouble them, Jazz is just so much tougher.

Tell me about it it was my b-day and had people watching the game.

When I saw Yao hit the clutch basket I was what a great game for my b-day but, then with Roy...I felt cheated...what a bummer night.

I have to agree with him. Looking at it form the other end of the prism, the Blazers are the team I'd most like to face in round 1. Between the inexperience, the lack of decent post defenders, the lack of a big-time scoring three which allows Battier and Artest to focus on Roy, its a custom made match-up for the Rox. Having said that, I will feel worse about the match-up if we don't have home court.
