Blount scored 17 TDs for the ducks last season. He played like crap lastnight but he definitely would have given them a better chance at winning games the rest of the season.
Blount most likely cost himself a career in the NFL and millions of dollars. It's a shame, but the consequences are well deserved. He behaved like a wild animal last night. He dropped an opposing player with a sucker punch, and then backed out of the scene flexing his muscles and staring down the victim. What a bad man he must think he is. I was disgusted watching him shove his own teammate, attempt to go after a fan, and then having to be restrained and escorted back to the Oregon locker room.
Yep players just aren't the same after a long break from action (non-injury related). Mike Williams, Maurice Clarett, & Pacman Jones are a few names that come to mind.
Man the dude was a hot head, even shoving his own teammates in the face when they tried to calm him down.
I have no problem with the punch. Professional and college sports have been cleaned up and policed so much that a lot of players think there are no repercussions for taunting or shoving people. Obviously, the moron that got his chin checked thought that or he would not go shoving people and then turn away without even considering the possibility of getting KOed. That said, the Oregon player, for his own sake, should not have thrown the punch. I can understand why he did but he should not have. Everything after that is insane and the kid needs to sit for a while.
I honestly don't mind him decking the guy with the taunting that happened beforehand (not knowing anything that may have happened before the incident). What's the Boise State guy doing slapping him on the shoulder? Heck, you could see his own people trying to stop him before he got clocked. Of course the guy kind of went nuts after that, from the looks of it, and I can't say that was as funny.
He'll have a lot of time to sit around and ponder about his ridiculous antics. As mentioned earlier in this thread, he is suspended for the full season, which includes the possible bowl game.
I think that after he punched the guy that he knew that he had really screwed up and I think that led to a further breakdown. He looked like someone who is really upset with himself and that led to the feeling that everyone was against him. I kind of feel sorry for the guy even though I think that his punishment is fully deserved. It is nice that the university is going to let him practice with the team and leave him on scholarship, so he can try to prepare for a post-college career. Maybe he can learn and get his life back together and gain some perspective. He needs to have a team of people counsel him and let him know that if he does all of the right things for the next six months he still can be drafted.
Questionable character and questionable work ethic. This guy has really hurt himself. Good for Oregon that they suspended him for the full year. I was assuming it would be 4-6 games.
Meh, classless move by both guys. If the guy was seriously hurt by the punch then a big punishment should've been brought down, but the guy is okay. I don't see a lot happening to Blount, maybe a suspension, but nothing serious...I don't see how people think this is going to impact his chances to go pro...the NFL has shown time and time again- if you can ball, someone will pick you up.
Byron Hout deserves a suspension. No reason to taunt a guy after the game. He's a classless thug, and Boise should not want a guy like that on their team.
You don't get a suspension for that......especially after the other cat ran his mouth before the game. Classless by Hout, yes....suspension worthy, hardly. DD
After watching the video and reviewing the stats, Blount needs to practice running FORWARD. He sucker punched and ran away like a coward. How embarrassing for him.
Classless move, to sucker punch somebody. But that guy looks like a douchebag anyway. I'm torn here. I like it when an uppity douchebag gets punched, but not when the puncher runs away like a coward.
