Damn, I was wondering why after years of watching Fox I had this underlying desire to destroy western democracy...now I know why.

How can Palin go on Oprah when she's already been taken to Cheney's undisclosed location?

I'm guilty this time. I had been taking the rhadamanthus challenge, but relapsed. My bad. :(

From here on out, every time TJ starts a stupid thread or trolls to absurd levels, I will increase my next Obama donation by $5. Same goes for basso.

Anyone else care to join me?

Even if that were the case, the line was not drawn whenever Obama decided to run, but when Oprah decided she was going to support him. And, as has been mentioned, it's her show and she can invite who she wants. She decided not to have candidates on her show starting on some arbitrary date, and she has stuck to it. If Obama were to show up now, then I'd agree that she broke her promise of neutrality, even though she'd still be within her rights to do so.

It would do Obama a lot of good if he was able to get on her show, and probably a lot more good than a Palin visit would do Palin, so Republicans should be grateful that Oprah is staying more or less on the sideline. Demanding that Oprah give Palin more access than she gives Obama (whom she actually supports) is just unreasonable and greedy.

I'm in. You should start an Obama/tj/basso donation thread to keep track.

B-Bob inspired me to throw some more ducats Obama's way yesterday.

Could be any amount. How about a quarter? That way, Obama will have an extra $10 over the next couple of weeks.

I wish I had money to donate to Obama.

It pisses me off to see the infighting in the Democratic Party. Can we effin unite one time?

If Oprah were to grant Obama or Biden an interview then the FCC (under federal election guidelines) would require equal time for a Republican response. And you know it wouldn't come with an appearance - it would be a 42 minute campaign video.

It's her show and she did have the right to do what she has done. It would be cool if Palin screws up and even mentions Oprah anywhere publically at any time. Oprah has a forum far larger than her show and she'd no doubt love a shot at Palin's positions.

Perhaps TJ could send Palin a fan letter and get that set up?

She should invite Palin on. A woman running for VP is a great story no matter what and the ratings will be great.

She could "balance" it by not inviting Joseph Biden. A Biden interview wouldn't be all that exciting anyways (a white guy/career politician running for VP?!?!?!) and wouldn't provide the sort of boost to the DEMS that a Palin interview would to the GOP. That way she can claim neutrality without helping the GOP.

It's her show though and she has every right to do whatever she wants.

let's get a sticky, that way everytime t_j, basso, iroc, et al post an incredibly asinine message (read: every post t_j has ever posted) we can see a running total of the amount donated to Obama.

Obama hadn't announced his candidacy then and as far as I know first ladies (potential or otherwise) are not treated as candidates under the FCC/FEC guidelines.

If that's changed, someone please correct me.

Where did I miss that Oprah said she is fair and balanced politically? It's her show, right? Why would she give airtime to someone runing against the candidate she supports?
