Okay, so even though the GOP doesn't really support this nutjob, as I understand it, this white nationalist, Holocaust-denier is running unopposed in an IL primary. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/holo...essional-candidate-illinois/story?id=52890074 To me, this seems like an opportunity. What if the state or national GOP spent a little money denouncing him in a simple ad? What if they took the official position that they prefer the democratic candidate (if the democratic candidate is, hopefully, less crazy and divisive)? Other ideas? I'm not trying to bag on the GOP here, honestly. A nutjob could end up running unopposed in anyone's district, in any party. But responding could send a very welcome message to whatever moderates remain in the country. Could a bipartisan statement start a tiny bit of healing? I guess we can just expect: the GOP to say nothing; and the DNC to suggest, if not outright say, sweeping things about what this crackpot says about an entire party. Le sigh.
I think what will be interesting is to see how many votes he gets. republican votes. trump supporter republican votes.
