I have mixed feelings about the PLA getting involved. On the one hand given the aggressive expansionist moves of the PRC in the South China Sea we should Be suspicious of them projecting power. OTOH if the PRC wants to be a superpower they should be willing to take up some of the burdens and cost of global security and protecting free trade routes.
They want cheap and available gas. The Euros are just as reliant on that trade since they cut off Russia but... One thing to watch is how Iran reacts. I doubt the PLAN will be in a position to shoot down any ships. If it happens, it opens up the notion that their control of their proxies isn't as tight as western media portrays it to be.
