Just controlling my temper in general. Mostly aggressive driving, but also avoiding situations acting like the big turd in the toilet.

I guess I assumed this was Greg Abbott's pet project to shore up his bonafides. What does it mean when Abbott makes me actually miss having Perry as governor?

It's really not that controversial....again Texas became the 45th state with open carry. The left is playing it up like it's a big deal, but it's really not.

Unfortunately, a 10% discount doesn't cover the time and expense of driving from Clear Lake to Cypress.

I think this law is kind of needless and silly. What difference does it make if someone sees your gun or not?

But, given that 1) this law already exists in most other states and b) 99.999% of people won't be walking around with AR 15's around their shoulders, I think this is ultimately much adieu about nothing.

Just another something for people to argue about on the intertubes and talk radio that actually affects very few people in real life.

That's really close to me. I've been meaning to go there for a long time. It's just a BBQ pit trailer in the parking lot of an Ace Hardware. I don't know if I'd call it a "restaurant"

Just ordered my Blackhawk Serpa CQC. Mostly for Hog hunting days or just going for a walk. It'll be nice not to have it in my belt or on my ankle, and my old leather open top retention holster just never felt completely secure.

That'll give me 3 good holsters:

    Comp Tac CTAC IWB
    DiSantis Ankle holster
    Blackhawk Serpa CQC

Has anyone here ever been robbed at gun point?

Honest question. Do you think things would have turned out any better if you were packing?

I've been there several times. He has signs near his ordering window basically warning that what's in the register isn't worth your life, etc. They seem pretty bubba over there but they're also very marketing savvy. He had a row with Dunkin Donuts and played it up for the attention. Sounds like the same thing here.

Their brisket used to be the best on this side of town but it's been really salty lately so I haven't been in a while.

To me the reason that this law is a good thing is that it makes it to where someone that is carrying a concealed handgun can't be arrested if his jacket opens up and a cop sees that he is carrying. Without this law, it was super risky to carry a concealed handgun due to those risks. Now you don't have to be so worried about breaking the law due to a gust of wind or whatever.

No it wasn't. Bobby you have so much to say but so little to back it up.

    SB 299:

SB 299 helps CHL carriers in two ways. Currently, it is an offense to fail to conceal a handgun; SB 299 makes it an offense to intentionally display the handgun in plain view of another person in a public place. Also, currently you may display a handgun only when deadly force would be justified; this bill allows display when either force or deadly force are justified. (see full text)

Update: Passed by the House and Senate, signed by the Governor; goes into effect September 1, 2013.

Fair enough, I didn't know about this bill so it's good that it passed. All that means though is that the new open carry law means nothing at all to me.

What's funny is that brandishing a gun to an unarmed person to end a discussion is not considered a confrontation. It's considered avoiding a confrontation.

Maybe I'm wrong but earlier in the post he mentioned situations where there could be an escalation.

Not shooting the finger to a rude/unsafe/inconsiderate driver could meet that criteria.

Not engaging in discussions about Muslims with ATW who may fly off the handle and start throwing out insults at any disagreement could also fit that criteria

Serpa holsters have lots of controversy. They've been banned with certain law enforcement I think.
