Ok I said I would expound on my taking a GM sabatical, so here goes. I finished my Football season last Friday and began my duties as the Supervisor of off-Ice officials for the new ECHL team in Beaumont. I then started my basketball season tonight so until April I will be involved with Hockey and coaching on an almost daily basis. That coupled with my full-time job leaves me with absolutely no time to keep up with a team like I should. SO I am stepping out as Oakland GM for a while. You can put them on Computer control or you can give them a new GM and I'll take a new team when I can get back into it. CK
Htown: I'll post the draft order later tonight (before I go to the football game). There's no specified time, just pick whenever you have a chance, however, sooner is better.
Chuck, You have my list so whenever the 3rd pick comes up and I haven't made it within 10 minutes, just make the pick for me. Thanks.
Check the link Avialable rookies, or this one http://users2.ev1.net/~chkemp/ootp/rookies.htm (it is the same). Too see what rookies are available. I only know that Seattle is lucky enough to have the very first pick, but give me a few and I'll find the order. Also for the draft - it is snake style.
http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66980 Check this thread for draft order (unofficial). We had a minor crash in the middle of this season so we are now doing it over. The order should be pretty much the same unless the tiebreakers are random, but that should not give big changes. You could also sneak peek at who was picked for who and when last time around.
I guess this thread is as good as any. There was a sim yesterday and the team pages are updated but for some reason, box scores and standings and probably others are not. Marlins 8-5 and first baby!
Oski, I hate to do this because it will sound like I am calling you out, but this is a unique situation. It is my fault for saying that the Cubs are available - number one because I gave them up (which I don't regret) and number two because if I had known that Sammy was going to get back into the league, they would have been reserved for him, since he has run them longer than anyone else. It is nothing personal against you but if you are not going to post a lineup, then to me, you are not interested in the league. And the Cubs are one team that should not have a disinterested manager in charge of them, especially with Sammy around. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I would prefer you relinquish the Cubs to Sammy and take the Red Sox or some other available team UNLESS you start posting lineups and showing that you want to be an ACTIVE manager.
Manny Cubs are 20-5. What if Oski wanted to see how his team was doing and how this was done before he made any changes, and now see they are doing just fine and dont have any changes. Then do he need to really post a lineup saying no changes? The only thing I can see for his team are two minor leaguers ready for promotion, but that could have happened last sim and promoting minor leaguers ASAP isn't the end of the world even if it wasn't.
Heath, He needs to tell someone. GreenVegan76 never had his name by the Braves and he did just like Oski in that he said he wanted to be in the league. Now, that he has *posted a lineup*, maybe Chuck will take Atlanta off computer control. And why does Kam have his name listed for Detroit when he hasn't posted a lineup, but Anticope hasn't? We used to have a rule, back when haven ran the league that said that until you posted a lineup, you are NOT considered to be in the league. Somewhere down the line, we have gotten VERY lax on that. If guys hadn't posted a lineup one time this season, then they should not be listed as the manager of a team - plain and simple. But compounding the problem is that you have SamCassell, who I think you will agree or admit, was one of the best sim managers in the original sim. When Sammy left, I remember Zac specifically forbidding anyone to take the Cubs because they were saved for Sammy. Since he is back in the league, he really should have them over someone who, as far as we know, may not really be interested in the league or has found it too intimidating or just simply doesn't know to post a lineup. And yes I am being selfish here, but the last time I left a decent team, the manager that came in after me absolutely destroyed that team (HINT: He goes by Domanick Davis in chat). Yes, the Cubs under me hadn't done anything other than make 2 out of 3 playoff appearances, including a NLCS berth. However, if you recall by the time the 2006 season had crashed, I had significantly revamped the team - getting younger in some places, cutting payroll in others, and simply getting better. There is no DOUBT in my mind that I had that franchise as a winner for seasons upon seasons. But I do not want to see a repeat of other times where a poster's name is in charge of a team for several seasons and all his FAs are not re-signed and they leave and the computer is forced to play pitchers in the outfield. And you are right about that not many things need to be changed, but one big one is that Mark Adams, the top position player prospect for the Cubs, does not belong in the majors. He belongs in A, maybe AA if his numerical ratings have increased. Cody Ross, who is going to be a badass, needs to be called up to take his place. In the end - Chuck has the final say, but if you ask guys who were in the original sim about this, they will say that it is a unique situation in that Sammy is back. It is one thing if the manager for the Cubs is an active one, but if not, then Sammy needs to be running the Cubs instead of some phantom manager.
I think a call out to Oski is in order here. If he is indeed around and has interest in the Cubs let him speak now. If we have not gotten a post by Oski by the end of the week I say give the Cubs to Sammy (whoever you are).
And I apologize if my tone came across as harsh or rude in anyway. It is like Buck said, it is just a "call out" to see if he really is interested in the sim. And I would love to say that I don't care what happens to the Cubs, but considering that I built that team, I am always going to have a vested interest in them.
I am touched by your heartfelt lack of knowledge of my identify, nay, my very existance. I salute you, Buck88.
