Giants confirm. The cash, and 4 nice young building blocks for the future was too much.

Loomis and Bannon and Wegman go to triple A. Avendano goes to double A.

This deal is not going through, not over my participation in this league.

I agree - this deal should not go through - and if anybody get to rip the newbie in a trade it should not be the one getting him to join up.

I don't know what is so bad about the trade. Evert is a free agent after the year and I'm getting a very good young pitcher to replace him in the rotation. If you look at his stats his only weakpoint is avoiding doubles. He also has an amazing K/IP ratio throughout the minors. I get a decent true 3B in Miguel Cabrera which I need who can play defense better than Kelly Johnson. And I get a MR John Haskett who has good ratings and can only get better since he is only 21 years old.

Let's see where do I start.

Johnson wont be worth a damn in the game unless he gets a development and good in hits. Miguel Cabrera, mr. F-A-A-G, in the big leagues, you must really want to lose. Perez is worse than betemit, and that MR you got has no future either without a development as he has an average in hits.

The talent ratings go from Brilliant, Good, Average, Fair to poor, understand. Highest to lowest.

The proposal you made to the cardinals was awful, then you get ripped off by the guy who brought you into the league.

You are not off to a good start at all.

I agree. And what is scary is that you wanted Cabrera and Johnson. Cabrera will never get to MLB if he doesnt get a talent increase - developing into his current talent will never be enough.

And Johnson - ugh - adding an average in hits pitcher should not mean much to this trade. And that is even before you discover his poor talent vs doubles. Also as a starter to suck this much vs lefties - he is going to be killed everytime he faces a leftie batter. With MRs having big differences vs right/left is not that bad as they play less every game and they will hopefully be picked to pitch to their strenght - but with starters?

Also while I mentioned MRs - they should only be valued highly in trades if they have good talent all over the board - and at least good in hits. The need for having good in hits is also true for pitchers.

Actually, Cabrera is F-G-A-G-G. And maybe I don't understand the rules of how players develop in this game, so maybe you can explain to me how a player gets "a development". I've seen other trades that have gone through that didn't seem very smart like the Kirts to Arizona trade. I felt Montreal got ripped off. However, it seemed to slide since the Montreal GM said he went "kooky". So maybe someone can explain how a player's stats can improve and how you know which player's stats will improve.

Look, Little One, we already have one devestata (well, maybe two if you count Truth), we sure as hell don't need a second (or third) one.

Bottom line is if you don't understand any aspect of the game, call on someone who does.

Don't go around doing things like making stupid ass offers if you don't know what in the hell you are doing.

Do you think by doing this, you are going to impress us?

    Ok.

Let's look at RR going 'kooky'. When you have been in the league as long as RR and even won a WS you pretty much know that RR knows what he's doing. And Garrido might end up being the only player in that trade so I'm not so sure RR is the one who screwed up :).

About how a player gets a 'development' or t-dev as we call them. I guess first you need to understand the 2 levels at how you rate a player. Most importantly you have their talents:

    Brilliant
    Good (6-8)
    Average (4-6)
    Fair (2-4)
    Poor (0-2)

The talent decides how good a player can become in the areas they are given talent. Then you have their numerical ratings in the same area. It tells how good a player is at the moment in those areas.

A player can have a talent in homers of Brilliant (8 and upwards) but still have a numerical rating that is below his talent. Then he has yet to develop into that talent. We have the numerical values of the players hidden during the season, so you can only see their talent. You can however check what their numerical ratings were during the offseason in their profiles:

    NAME : Christopher Kirts
    ...
    Avoiding Runs : 5
    Avoiding Hits : 6 (VS. RHB : 5, VS. LHB : 8, Talent Good)
    Avoiding Doubles : 3 (VS. RHB : 2, VS. LHB : 4, Talent Fair)
    Avoiding Homeruns : 4 (VS. RHB : 3, VS. LHB : 5, Talent Brilliant)
    Avoiding BB's : 6 (VS. RHB : 6, VS. LHB : 7, Talent Good)
    Getting Strikeouts : 6 (VS. RHB : 7, VS. LHB : 6, Talent Good)
    ...

Here you see that Kirts has a brilliant in homers, but in the offseason the talent was yet not developed. Also a player can never develop past his talent level unless he gets a talent development.

So if a players talent is Fair - he can max get 4 in numerical rating unless he gets a talent development.

You can not predict who will get a t-dev or if a t-dev will be positive or negative. Maxing the current talent will not mean that player is due for the talent to increase. It may as well decrease.

To find out if your players have developed a better talent you need to pay attention to your Player Development link.

Hope this helps - any questions?
