Step 5, have an "adoring" compliant liberal media, that will downplay, ignore, or cover up your mistakes.

Scott McClellan: “If anything, the national press corps was probably too deferential to the White House and to the administration in regard to the most important decision facing the nation during my years in Washington, the choice over whether to go to war in Iraq.

“The collapse of the administration’s rationales for war, which became apparent months after our invasion, should never have come as such a surprise. … In this case, the ‘liberal media’ didn’t live up to its reputation. If it had, the country would have been better served.”

I think Rupert Murdock took away any arguments conservatives have to complain about the "liberal bias" of the mainstream media. Get real.

The media is liberal but more so just plain biased.

People "vote" on them with ratings and saying something unpatriotic means they are fired until the Iraq war went to crap and then it was OK to bash the pres.

Similar to how they are in love with Barack. And another motivation might be getting fired for saying anything that might be claimed to be racist.

I mostly agree with this - they are ultimately in business to make money. Fox News was very smart identifying an alternative slant that appealed to some Republicans. Then CNN and others saw the success and also went to more opinion-based news media. It's been downhill ever since.

I'm not so sure about this - they promote winners and successful underdogs. When Obama was winning in January and February, he got great coverage. When he struggled in March, the focus shifted entirely to Rev. Wright and then the bitterness comments in April, etc. And that he couldn't win the "big" states (why did they never discuss how Hillary couldn't win 30+ other states?) Even now, they keep harping on the idea that he can't win working class whites (never mind that he has done so in many states, most recently in Oregon). A lot of the time, they are just repeating Hillary campaign talking points as fact. Most recently, we've had very little positive coverage of either candidate. The media seems to go back and forth a lot. I think building people up and then tearing them down makes for good stories - really, the media should do neither, but that goes back to your first point.

Once again, Obama proves he will say ANYTHING to get elected even when it means mixing up Grandfather, Uncles, whatever stories up. Just like how Hillary talks with a country accent when she's down in the south, Obama tells war stories to some veterans just to prove he's one of them.

I know. We need a candidate who knows where he stands. I mean someone like McCain who was against Bush tax cuts, then in favor of them, then against them again, and finally in favor of them again. Or like McCain who was against torture, then in favor of torture, or like McCain who shunned the religious right, then sought their endorsements, but has since renounced them again. Or someone like McCain who was opposed to all the connection to K Street lobbyists, but turns out his campaign has been littered with lobbyists in high positions, and he's since gotten rid of some.

Someone like that is much better.

Especially since most of McCain's flip flops, mistakes or whatever you'd like to call them actually are about real issues.

I love how Obama keeps getting pass after pass with the Media and this BBS - First with Wright, then with his wifes Comments about America, then his Grandma, now with his Grandfather/GreatUncle, and nobody cares. Nobody has commented on how he said he visited 57 STATES. Last I checked there were 50 States. Nobody seems to care that this so-called Harvard intellectual "know it all" will say and do anything for political reasons.

When did Obama get a pass on the Wright stuff with the media? It was covered nonstop for weeks. As were his wife's comments. Both of those *still* come up now and then. What was the deal with his grandma? Are you suggesting Obama said he visited 57 states instead of 47 for political reasons, or that somehow stating that it was a different concentration camp would have affected the message at all?

Once again, RRNYC shows that facts don't matter when it comes to coming up with complaints about Obama.

Obama got a free pass on the Wright issue? That is a laugh. He was grilled on it, over and over, and ABC wasted at least half a debate talking about it. There is also the point that IT DOESN'T MATTER. Wright isn't running for President. They were 30 minutes out of a 30 year career, and Obama dealt with it.

Obama got a free pass about his wife's comments about America? Wrong. They talked about it, she clarified it, and even more importantly than that is the fact that IT DOESN'T MATTER. It isn't an issue the President will face.

The confusion of which relative's war stories he was talking about the 57 states comment can be summed up pretty easily. IT DOESN'T MATTER. Those aren't issues.

But if you would rather make a big deal about misstatements dealing with things that aren't issues go ahead.

After all you could vote for McCain who makes misstatements about things that are actual issues. Such as the difference between Shi'ite and Sunni. And which group Al-Qaeda belongs claims, and who might be training Al-Qaeda.

You're kidding, right? He's been hammered for the Wright stuff and it's a good thing. Better to be hammered during the primaries than having it discovered in September or October. Just as Clinton was blasted for various gaffs, so to is Obama over this. As with Clinton, so is this rediculous. I wish you could try running for an office 24/7 for months and months, seemingly without end, and go through the process without flubbing some things.

    This is absurd. Who cares?

    Impeach Bush. Hurry!!

If hillary had come under sniper fire in some other place instead of bosnia, then I would have said her story was fine. But she didn't even come under sniper fire.

Obama's great granduncle liberated a concentration camp - does it matter what the name of it was?
